  1. These are just 2 of the 14 finished projects i had asked about painting. Not perfect by any means, but the family loved them! Merry Christmas everyone!
  2. I want to thank everyone for replying. Everyone have an awesome Merry Christmas! I will show the final edition when finished.
  3. These is my Christmas project for family. 14 of them! I’m pretty much done with all the staining, but wanted the group’s opinion on painting two items. I was thinking about painting the bow red and the smaller fireplace flame yellow or just leave them as is. I highly regard your opinions on this! Thanks, Ray
  4. has anyone done a video on how to take a pic like below and turning it into a pattern as detailed as the one to the right?. i can do portraits, but what about something much more detailed? for someone who is very proficient at making patterns is something like below a week long, month long process? thanks for the replies and advice.
  5. Here’s my question: i have a compound pattern for roses( the bottom black and white pic, but is the any the would more resemble the color pic of a folded rose? I’m not smart enough to figure out how to make a pattern, if even possible, that would look more like a more closed rose. Thanks in advance more any replies. Ray
  6. a friend of mine gave me a piece of cider 22" x 18" x 2". who or how do i get it sliced down to several 1/4" or 1/2" thick pieces?
  7. thanks everyone!
  8. thanks everyone who commented and gave advice, suggestions. coming from all of you on this site means a lot since there are so many on here that have inspired my whole endeavor into the scroll saw world several years ago. all of you are simply the best! ray
  9. Is there such a thing as segmentarsia? if, not i just invented it! This piece is actually all 1/4 inch wood but built up to look like it is a true Intarsia. I couldn't afford to buy, and in some cases even find the thicker pieces of wood needed to make a true Intarsia piece, so i improvised. the walnut is the only wood not shimmed up to give the different levels look. now ome questions i have: even after cutting all the pieces out when i tried to put them all together i ran into many that simply wouldn't fit together. i spent many a hour sanding and shaping to get them to finally fit. so what exactly did i do wrong when cutting them all out? I know this isn't exactly the forum for questions, but i didn't want to post this twice. thanks, ray
  10. finally done with this one other than still not sure of what color background. light blue, some kind of sunset, etc. any ideas?
  11. i like that! do you mind if i use it later on? right now i'm in the middle of doing the great Indian leaders wall motif, but my next project will be on legends of the old west.
  12. does anybody have or know where i can find a scroll saw portrait pattern for the actual pic of Wyatt Earp? not the one of Kurt Russell playing him. thanks, ray i have one of Doc Holiday
  13. i'm looking for anyone that might have intarsia patterns for old western hand guns i.e. colt .45 peacemaker, army revolver, schofield, etc. i'm big into western items and want to try my hand at intarsia in that area. would appreciate any links to sites that might help me in that find too. thank, gang! i'll put my email in cast someone wants to send me info that way too.......rljohn656@yahoo.com
  14. AWESOME! My favorite of all of them has to be the Dragon! is that a pattern placed over a mirror? if, so that is a very cool idea!
