  6. When I have a narrow line to cut, like your deer legs, I try to find a spot along the line where I can blend the hole into the cut out without it being noticeable. Sometimes this works, and sometimes not so much. It's one of those things you learn by trial and error. So far I drill everything with a 1/16" bit. I don't think my drill press will take anything smaller, and as you said, it can be hard to get a blade through smaller hole. I've been told that great craftsmen are not those who build great things, but those who hide all their mistakes while building great things.
  7. A tip I picked up on drying turning blanks is to cover them in sawdust. It helps suck the moisture out of it. One guy who's turned a lot of bowls also puts them into the collection bag on his dust collector. He claims the sawdust along with the swirling air from the vacuum really works well. Just a couple of suggestions.
  8. No, And its going to get colder. Forecast for Thursday is low of -30 and a high of -14. But supposed to be up to +30 by Monday! Thanks for asking.

  10. Looks great. Wonderful job cutting!
  11. I've used other colors before. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. He wanted it to look similar to another sign he has. It was done with a router and then the recesses were painted black, so I used black to match. I think it'd look good with Red too.
  12. Welcome!
  13. We were at -36 degrees Saturday morning here in Montana. I think our weekly forecast has us above 0 for the high 3 days this week. My shop is in our attached garage. It doesn't get much below 20 in there, but I also don't have anything other than a couple of milk house heaters to warm it up. They'll get it to around 30 and if I'm working and have tools running it'll creep up to 40, which is good enough for me. But when it's this cold it takes awhile to get it that warm, so I'm working on several projects in the house.
  14. Great Job!
  15. A grandfather asked me if I could make him a sign for his Granddaughter's tree house. I used a piece of Russian Olive scrap and finished it with a Spar Poly as it's going to be outside. First time I've used this finish, so we'll see how it lasts.
  16. Well Done!

  18. Great, great job. Looks amazing!
  19. Beautiful. Great job. Personally, I like it more without the color, but she did a good job with the paint. And it's always the end user whose opinion matters most.
