  1. My primary shop is also in the the basement, a crawl space under our great room that we had dug out. About 200 Sq ft 16 x 13, the basement under the main part of the house has my table saw, metal lathe, drill press drum sander and Dust collector. I just looked at the pictures that I have and they are really outdated. I will take some new ones later. I see that several of us have other fun hobbies, like cars and bikes. I am getting real twitchy to get to work on my TVR.
  2. Kevin, is that a Z in you shop? My first thought is that it was s TVR wedge.
  3. However you do your work, it is crisp! very nice cross.
  4. Willkommen Sonja, das ist schon sehr schöne Arbeit von deiner Laubsäge.
  5. Scrappile I like your blade pick up tool
  6. Getting off topic, I apologize, For my Christmas ornaments I do so many stacks for me to glue them would take forever.
  7. I have a couple, a small one and a larger Craftsman one that I pocked up at a yard sale It uses special glue sticks and has several different nozzles. They all get very rare usage. For stack cutting I bought a Ports cable pin nailer it takes me a few seconds to pin my stacks together without sticky hot strings. I do it on a small anvil and then peen the ends to make sure they don't scratch my table.
  8. When I retired 4 years ago and no longer had access to industrial "E" size printers. my wife bought me an Epson 1430 that will print up to 13 x 19 inches. I rarely do bigger than "B" size 11 x 17. I have on occasion done the multi sheet pattern tapped together, I usually do it on a light table for more precision.
  9. Most of the larger fretwork projects that I have made for SSWWC are all re-sawn, jointed and edge glued. I do slice them a bit thicker and then sand them so that they are perfectly flat. As the others have said the glue joint is a non issue.
  10. Fran I will have to look that up. Do you have a picture of what you cut? I not sure I have seen any fretwork door toppers.
  11. If I remember correctly, the attempt at a building the 16" Hawk when Bushton first took over, was problematic. I remember some very real vibration issues that were never resolved. In hind site they would have been better off putting the development funds into marketing the existing G4's and grabbing a bigger chunk of the scroll saw market. JMO
  12. You are using spirals to cut intarsia pieces? Or is the door topper a different type of project?
  13. The lower speed was a good choice, I have a Sand Flee that runs at that speed and I have used a flex shaft on the output shaft on occasion. Regarding using a drill press for small sanding drums. You really are not putting much lateral pressure on a sanding drum, if that damages the drill press it was not very good to start with. I just find it easier to control my sanding on a horizontal drum, with the exception of my spindle sander. TOYS! Need more space! My next toy will not be woodworking related and about 4K
  14. I was not aware that Nilus left. he was a really nice guy but terrible at marketing. I know that one of the brothers (owners) had passed away. The only plastic bits on my G4 that come to mind are the Pittman arm and the bottom clamp retainer clip. I made a replacement out of phosphor bronze sheet, it is very springy. I cut it out on my Scroll saw. It works great. The first BM Hawk that I used at one of the open houses had a stiff steel clip. I discussed that with Nilus along with a couple of other suggestions. I f anyone wants the pattern for that clip let me know. I will also measure how thick the material is it has been a while.
  15. Very nice design and cutting. What blades are you using? What are the dimensions?
  16. My festool midi is rated at 62 dba at the low setting. "normal" conversation 60 to 65 db. I can do so sound level measurements at different distances when I get a chance.
  17. What is the noise level of the Seyco vac?
  18. That is a great suggestion
  19. Templates for simple stuff yes, for my detailed work not realistic, too time consuming and the probability of missing a detail too high.
  20. I like working with alcohol dyes. Charlie E., Those are some intense colors.
  21. You learn fast!, nice looking work!

Thanks Rolf. I recall seeing your original post now. I liked it then and I still do. I just wish I could find a source for those mag switches that didn't break the bank. I'll just have to use the old "glue in magnet" approach. Thanks again.

  23. I have my system connected to A JET Vortex 1100 VX. It is a Cyclone wanabe, that is surprisingly effective, with a 2 micron cartridge filter that is the original. I bought it in Dec 2011. It has had a lot of chips and dust go through it. especially fine dust when doing Intarsia. 4"pvc pipe, longest run ~30 ft. and 4 elbows and a 2" reducer to my bench top router at the end of the run, still lots of suction.
  24. Sorry I should have read the rest of the posts. At some point I would upgrade the clamp assembly with the Pegas version. If you don't have the manual for the saw I would suggest downloading it and follow their guide lines. http://www.general.ca/pdf/machines/excalibur/EX-16_21_30_ENG.pdf DGMAN, I would take that jig a bit further and take a piece of flat metal, drill and tap it on the drill press.
  25. This is what I have done. On my pneumatic drums and sanding mop. notice the minimal gap on top and open on the bottom.
