  10. Just like you, I read every post in every thread I look at before I comment, give info., etc. - one being to see if someone else already gave the info. I was going to and second, to see where the conversation is going. If I don't agree, or don't like the way its going - I tend to move on without adding any fuel to the fire. I try to think about what I post BEFORE i hit the submit button. If it really has irked me, I will walk away rather than post something while upset or mad. It helps. It also helps to remember that maybe someone has had a bad day, has had the rug pulled out from them, has who knows what bad stuff occur and that is also impacting their life here as well, we never know what is going on in most people's lives. I tend not to share too much of that online. Others share it all. Neither is a good or a bad thing. Depends on the person and their needs but if I was having a really bad day, you are probably not going to know it unless you read a post and "saw" that I was not my "normal". I have been on other forums - some have gotten down right ugly - when that happened - I left or quit posting as did many others. I have been on others like this one where most everybody is great - but even then - there were misunderstandings, miscommunication, etc. - it was rare but it did happen. When it did, usually someone said "sorry" I misstated, was misunderstood, etc. and the air was "cleared" up. Yes, we are all entitled to our opinion but need to remember first, if someone didn't actually ask for it - maybe we shouldn't share it and if they did, then we should share politely and explain as best we can. Then we need to remember, if we asked for it - we may get answers we don't like but if that's the case, then maybe we shouldn't ask. I have been here for about a year now and I can say in that year I have seen very few issues. I hope it always stays that way. One of the reasons I love coming here.
  11. Did you know you can easily mark a thread or comment that you post to notify you of replies? Just click on the little box on the bottom right of the comment box so that the area changes to a green background color and a check mark next to it. See it in the screen capture I've included.
  12. Great - this feature is available on another forum I have participated in and I love it - and had missed not having that ability here. Glad we now have it. It's better then having to "quote" the person so they see a notice. @amazingkevin what do you think about that?
  13. What a beautiful box. Excellent work on it Ron. Thanks for sharing your photos.
  14. While reviewing the forum and some of the posts about the changes to the forum with the update - I had an idea - while we wait for Travis to "fix" some of the things behind the scenes - why don't we share features and tools that we find/figure out so others can know too. Also, we can use this same thread to "ask" where something is or how it works if we need help with it. That way we help each other out in learning how to better function in the updated forum. Sound Good? For example - I used to could mark the sub forums "read" but had not seen how to mark the entire site "read" - (not saying it wasn't there - but I never figured it out. ) Now, you can easily mark the entire site as "read" Look up along the top right below the search area - there is now a "Unread Content" and "mark site as read" (its also at the bottom of the page). If you click on the "Mark site as Read" - it will now do that. Also, check out the "Unread Content" - click on that - you then get a page with all the content you have not yet "read" - It will show you posts from last hour, earlier today, then yesterday, etc. then there is an area above the posts where you can add in choices on what you want to show - content type, read status, ownership, etc. to let you pick and choose some items to see. Then just below that bar to the right is a "Results as" and you can choose "Expanded" or "Condensed" - click on each to see the difference in what is shown. Expanded shows the text of the post made. Condensed shows the post title and original poster and who replied to it but not any of the actual reply. I think this will be helpful to me as when I come onto the forum, I used to hit every sub forum to see what was newly added since I last visited - now I can just go here and see and read. I think I would use the "expanded" results. Now - about those notifications though . . . . .
  15. I bought a new car about a year and a half ago - I'm positive that I still don't know where/what all the new features and things are! - Just need to be patient and give Travis the time to get things organized and figured out. Perhaps we could start a new thread somewhere where we point out new tools/features or how to do things. People can share new things they found and those who need help figuring out something could ask in the same thread.
