    Hello

Welcome Rodney from East TN in the hills of the Great Smokey Mountains. I am a relative newbie to the saw as well. I have never had that saw so no help on your issue but looks like Ron and Lawson have given you good information to help you there. Just wanted to say welcome and look forward to seeing you learn and share here in the Village.
  2. Beautiful piece of artwork you have crafted. I am sure your nephew will love his gift. Thanks for sharing photos.
  3. Beautiful pattern, great cutting. Admire your work doing something like this with a handsaw. Too new to do that much lettering just yet. But hope to get there one day. Thanks for sharing your pattern.

Good job on it Randy. She will love it. Very kind of you. Now, I am a sports fan in general, love football and I am a die hard Vol fan who knows what the 3rd Sat. in Oct. means. So, when my niece decided to have a destination wedding on that day I was not a happy camper to say the least. Especially since I have season tickets! LOL at least I sold them for more then I paid. it was a beautiful wedding yesterday. Got in sneak peeks of game before, after during cocktail hour while they took photos, buffet dinner, etc. Was afraid the end result would be what it was. Still rebuilding right now. Ugly loss but still bleed orange. Least you can do is give the Smokey to her hubby to balance it out! LOL Go Vols!
  5. Hello Peter and welcome to the village. Your carvings look excellent. Thanks for sharing your photos. I can imagine driving buses could be very stressful. Hobbies like carving and scrolling would probably be great stress reliever for you. I am a realize newbie on the saw myself so will leave opinions on whether to go cheaply and upgrade later, or save for top models to start etc., to the experts. In general, don't think the sass make that much noise and I know I have seen others who use hem in an Apt., a closet, etc. if you are working inside, dust collection will be something you will want to figure out and that can be noisier then the saw depending on what you set up. Good luck and hope you can find the right saw for your needs and budget.
  6. Congratulations on winning. Looks like a great idea. thanks for sharing.
  7. Paint looks good. Glad your wife was willing to help you out. Much prefer the Vols ornaments though! Go Vols!
  8. Very nice. Like you, I don't think I have seen a ship's wheel as a trivet before. Excellent idea though. Looks good. thanks for sharing.

    Family

You could do two Rob - the original one and then your design - I dare say both apply to most families at various times!
  10. Congratulations on the Blue Ribbon. Well deserved for a beautiful piece of art work. Sorry about your accident and shoulder injury. Hopefully she has learned something. Glad you had your GoPros going. Good luck with continued healing.
  11. Beautiful piece of art you have cut there. I agree, the home for it was in that burl of wood. thanks for sharing.
  12. More beautiful project. Looks like it "grew" out of the wood its self. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Excellent work. Your niece will love the 1st Christmas for her new baby for sure. The Cheetah is just beautiful and a definite work of art and a labor of love! thanks for sharing.
  14. I found the pattern here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/image/9915-thanksgiving-dinner-trivet/or here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/category/3-new-patterns/ I don't see anywhere where she lists the font used though. Perhaps by quoting her we can get her attention back on this thread and she can let us know. (Is there another way to get someone's attention back to a thread other then quoting them? For example, on another forum I am on, you add an @ symbol in front of their forum name so mine would be @meflick to "tag" them and give them a notice to look at a particular thread. Is there something like that on this forum that I haven't figured out yet?

I agree, excellent pattern, great cutting and looks awesome on that slab. I am sure it will look lovely in your home and a great sentiment for all in the Family to see. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Jim, I didn't see the difference either when I first looked but that was because I thought he meant on the images themselves. When I took a second look, I realized that the difference was in the frames. One you can see "darker" spots on from the torching. I like them both. Beautiful pieces of art with great cutting. Love the image. thanks for sharing.
  17. Very awesome work on that project Tony. You put a lot of love and effort into it and I am sure you and she will treasure it. Thanks for showing. Edited to fix glaring typo.
  18. Beautiful job with a beautiful sentiment. I am sure it will be well received. thanks for sharing.
  19. I could be wrong but, I don't think that Scott meant that he was selling HIS saw. I think what he meant was that there was one listed on Craigslist "close by" to him in Raleigh area.
  20. Nice job. Glad it led to commissioned piece. Thanks for showing,
