  1. Very nice. I can see why your wife wanted one. Thanks for sharing.
  2. That looks like a great setup for you and like you said, its something you can easily change around. Looks like you are getting the shop area set up for you - how's the rest of the house move coming?
  3. Excellent work taking a "impressionist" style painting and creating a pattern from it and then recreating it with wood and a scroll saw. In the end, its what you like and you wanted that really matters. That is what true artist come to understand. Not everyone likes everything that others do - and that's okay. As long as we create what we wanted to do then that is all that really matters. Its our "soul" that we are feeding with our work. Sometimes the bonus is that others love it as well. Thanks so much for sharing.
  4. Please pass on my thanks to him for his 30 years of service to our country and the world with the Seals. Not an easy task I am sure. You have done a wonderful gift for him to commemorate his retirement. Excellent job on it. thanks for sharing.
  5. Fish, I am sure that your wife was over the moon with the piece and the "meaning" you have given to it with your marriage. You did an outstanding job on the it. Thanks for sharing the photo and the "meaning" for us.

    Oak Cross

I agree, beautiful work by a talented artist. Thanks for sharing your photo. I love all the intricate cross designs that I see.
  7. Rockytime - you can find it (and other free patterns) here on this site: http://fssp-arpop.blogspot.com/search/label/Signs%2FWord%20Art Jerry - great job on cutting that out. I saw that pattern the other day - and thought problem was - I couldn't give it to the people who "needed" it. Might try it some day once I get more comfortable trying to cut letters out.
  8. Beautiful work of art that the recipients will love. I just had a niece get married - perhaps I will try something similar for their Christmas gift. However, lettering like this scares me to be truthful! I will get there perhaps in time. So glad you are feeling up to working at your saw. Please, in the future - do not tell us when someone is going to "paint" something as beautiful as this. Leave us to think of it showing off its wood grain!
  9. I agree with everyone - time well spent. Hope you got some sleep now. Glad your daughter had a good show. I too like the Elephant rocker. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Crosses with Christ on them would be normal for the USA I believe. I think its the cutout that is different and more "unique" as it is not as "detailed" perhaps as many we see here. Plus the crosses in general we have here would be more straight lines where these do not appear to be but have some "curve" to them. They are unique and different from most of what we have seen I would think. They are beautiful work and I love the wood grains in them. I know many who would love these as gifts. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Beautiful work all around. Well worth the cost of the board (and then some ) I love the bowls, and the word art is fantastic. I admire the skills of those of you who can cut that! Thanks for sharing your photos.
  12. Beautiful cutting. I too just love this pattern and one day will get one cut (I hope.) They are just works of art that to me speak volumes about the meaning to the holiday season. Thanks for sharing your photo.
  13. Dick, as you say - its only by trying new things and pushing our personal "envelopes" do we find new and different ways of doing things which leads to creative outlets that might not have been found without doing it. Good to see you are walking the walk. I need to push myself to do more of that. Great looking project overall. As you can see here - what one person likes - another may or may not. Glitter is one of those things over the years that I have learned some people love - others not so much. My daughter was never a "glitz and glam" girl so I quickly learned never to make her anything that glittered. Two nieces are big "glitz and glam" girls and the more it glitters the better they like it. Most men I have found don't like the glitter which I think is shown by the comments here. I like the orange "halloween" theme that you were going for but think it may not look as good with the red glitter and as you and others have concluded, perhaps some of the issue is that the frame may be a little too small. I am not sure if I like the additions onto the edges of the frame or not. To me, they seem to distract some from the actual cutting its self the skull. One idea might be to cut them into the wood frame and then add some black behind them that way. In my eye at least, they would then not "pop" so much off the frame but be an enhancement to the frame. But, as others have noted - what appeals to one - may not to the masses so if I were creating to sell, I would try several different versions and see which one was the better seller. However, again - that can vary depending upon the "audience" where you are - switch venues and that too can change. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Now that's a different look for sure. Thanks for explaining how you added the lights and created the "box". Great job all around. thanks for sharing.
  15. Beautiful piece of artwork. Gives you a sense of tranquility. Thanks for sharing your photo.
  16. Just an awesome finished project from the pattern Russell did. I really like that "robin blue" color backing you used to help it "pop". I agree, from the photo it looks more 3D as opposed to a scroll saw cutting. I am sure your friends are going to love hanging this to welcome their guests into their home. Thanks for sharing the photo of the finished project.
  17. Great work on three very different pieces of artwork. I think my son would really love that hulk. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Nice job Jerry. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Exactly! These look great Jerry and always good to have "gifts" available for those you want to give that little extra something to.
  20. Very nice looking project there Docupton. Always great to hear that the customer likes the final product. I can see why. thanks for sharing.
  21. All great looking projects with great cutting and skill. Thanks for sharing them Pete.

  23. Great looking display of a lot of hard work and talent there. Plenty for everyone to choose from. Great artwork created. Thanks to LarryEA for being able to flip the photo so I can see things better. Hope the show went well for you Edward.
  24. Thanks for the pictures and explanation of your jig Dan. As a relative newbiie, but with an experienced woodworking hubby, i will put this on the "honey, can you help me with this" list.
  25. Steve, those are just beautiful. I know your former co-worker's wife and family appreciate your time and effort to make these from his boat making scraps. They are a treasure for them I am sure. Very kind of you. Thanks for showing.
