  1. Glad to hear you are getting a new saw Travis - I know you will enjoy it and I know you deserve it!
  2. Welcome to the Village Don from across the big Pond. Glad to have you join us. You can find the only US published magazine for scrollers here: https://scrollsawer.com/category/current-issue/ and back issues can be found here: https://foxchapelpublishing.com/magazines/scroll-saw-woodworking-crafts.html If you scroll through there, they also have 4 CDs that have back issues on them. They go from issue 1 to issue 48 if you got all 4 cds. I bought them since I had not had a subscription that went back that far and I think they have lots of good projects. They usually have at least one Intarsia project in each one - sometimes more I think. They also have had wooden gear clocks and such in some in the past I know. They had a special issue back in 20015 called "Gizmos and Gadgets" you might want to check out: https://scrollsawer.com/2015/10/02/gizmos-gadgets-2015/

    Hi from NJ

Welcome to the Village Don. Glad to have you join us. Look forward to your participation.
  4. Nothing wrong with that - especially when you have to order from so far away and wait for it - glad its early. However, does that mean though you have to wait until Oct. to get and use your gift?
  5. Happy Birthday and a great gift.
  6. Nice work and I am sure your daughter will love and treasure it. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Good luck Kevin. I will be interested in seeing what the experts tell you. I haven't tried any inlay myself yet so know help. I know @Jim Finn is one of the inlay experts here in the Village. Perhaps he or others can give you good insight and help.
  8. Hi Pete and welcome to the Village from a "neighbor" over the Mountain in East TN. Glad to have you join us and look forward to your participation. We have several NC members, some from close to the coast.
  9. Beautiful job all around. Thanks for sharing.
  10. You are doing some great work Brenda and there is nothing wrong with flitting around to different types of scrollwork. Just make whatever appeals to you. You do ‘t Have to develop a “niche” if you don’t want to. as far as being afraid of the scrollsaw and this doing that reindeer on a bandsaw, seriously fist, I would be much more afraid of the band saw then the scroll saw but great work on it. Second, no need to be afraid of the scroll saw, it is probably one of the safest saws you can run. If you can get an adaptor for your saw that let’s you use painless blades, it would help you a lot. Thanks for sharing some of your work. Look forward to seeing more,
  11. Stunningly beautiful that your sister is going to love, late or not. Thanks for showing.
  12. Ice work by both of you.
  13. Wow Kevin, I somehow missed these when you first posted them last month. Lots of great work shown there. Did you figure out how to put in your gallery?
  14. Congratulations. Happy for you. Work looks good as always.
  15. Congratulations. Sounds like great opportunities for you.
  16. I have a Seyco and an older Excalibur that I purchased use from Ray at Seyco. Have always been happy with both and the service I have gotten. Travis, if you reach out to Ray at Seyco, explain to him who you are in regards to running this forum, perhaps he could cut you a "deal". Like Paul, I do recommend anyone getting a Seyco watch Steve Good's video about putting it together and adding the thin washers to lift up the magnetic table top for better clearance as noted.
  17. Hey Iggy, i have good news for you then (or maybe not depending on how you look at it ) - if it only keeps you busy during "daylight hours" - you will get some relieve at some point since we have started having less and less daylight now that we are moving on towards Fall and Winter. So less work for you perhaps. (Either that, or less time to do the work in so making you even busier )
  18. Hi Brenda and welcome to the Village from across the pond here in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains here in East Tennessee. It's nice to have you join us. Glad you found the saw and the village. Its a great place to hang out and learn from so many others who are willing to share. Like you, my hubby was the one with the workshop and he kindly shared a corner of it for my saws and sanders I use for Intarsia work. Great to have good hubbies isn't it. Look forward to your participation here in the Village and seeing what you are crafting.
  19. Good luck Iggy. Hope you make your goals and then some!
  20. Some nice looking pieces there Pete. Glad you found some time in the shop.
  21. Sorry to hear about the rain. Hopefully everything dries out and glad to hear you made some sales and you consider it a success. That is the most important thing.
  22. Believe it not Travis, many around here have already started back to school. They do get a Fall Break though and will be done for the year by the end of May. I remember when we didn’t start until after Labor Day.
  23. Welcome Craig. Look forward to your participation. As Kohn noted, pinned blades make it more difficult to cut a variety of patterns as they require a larger”hole” to slide through. I would definitely find a conversion kit for your saw to be able to use pin less blades.
  24. Good to hear Dom. We can try to bring Brian’s attention back to this thread as well so he can see you are seeking his help. We can do that by adding an @Bpardue here. Good luck with your classes.
