  1. Those look great Don. I'm curious about the clat stuff. I'll watch Steve's video.
  2. A fitting memorial. A great pattern and beautifully cut!
  3. Blade merchants have charts that can be printed out. Dealers like Wooden Teddy Bear, Bear Woods, D&D and others. The charts have diagrams and other specifications.
  4. I sometimes use a tack cloth to wipe down the wood.
  5. I wonder it they do not keep them on the floor but rather assemble them when an order comes in. I know their main business is farming and they run a small shop. I could be wrong.
  6. Thanks! I had not thought of tape. My father was a dentist and I kept lots of pics. As a matter of fact I offer root canals on the weekends for just #19.99. Have not been able to get any customers so far. :>)
  7. I would use a vacuum cleaner and ear plugs before using something over my head like that. Just my ever so humble opinion.
  8. Hey I have first nibs!
  9. Thanks for the replies. I was cutting 1/2" Poplar with a #1 Olson Blade, not a reverse tooth blade. I will experiment using a burnishing tool. It will apply much more direct pressure on the shelf liner. I'll experiment on some scrap. If that works, OK. It not I'll go back to painters tape on critical cuttings.
  10. Interesting and comical for sure. I enjoyed your web site and the photos of your project. Interestingly you use the same head magnifiers I do. Best I have ever found. I have one near the scroll saw, one on each of my two clock benches and one at my lathe and mill. I want them at my fingertips.
  11. I have a problem with small parts of my pattern lifting. I apply Duck brand shelf paper on the wood. I press it down with a rubber roller making sure it adheres well. I spray the back of the pattern liberally with 3M 45 spray adhesive. On most projects I do not have a problem. However, on patterns that have narrow areas to cut the pattern AND the shelf liner lifts from the wood. The shelf liner is rolled rigorously to assure adhesion. I think I will go back to painters tape. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I tried gluing small piece with a glue stick to no avail. Therefore I'm just guessing perhaps my roller is uneven. Right now I'm too lazy to go out to the shop and check it. I should, perhaps, use a burnisher to assure the shelf liner adheres properly.
  12. I do the same thing. I just cot off a corner of the original. I never cut the original.
  13. I don't have an air filtration system but I would guess you box fans catch the larger sawdust. I assume the air filtration would attract the much finer airborne dust. Ah but what the heck do know? I'm just guessing.
  14. Interesting pattern. You have cut it well. The burn in characters are done very well also.
  15. My old eyes do not detect nail holes but they do detect some very nice cutting. Nice job!
  16. Nothing so sad as the passing of a child. Prayers for healing and comfort.
  17. Hi Kevin, I think you are correct so I'm making you an offer. When you get your new saw I offer you half price but only with free shipping. :>)
  18. Very few under 55 or 60 years of age out there. A dying trade. If you were closer i'd be happy to CLEAN YOUR CLOCK.
  19. Great cutting Jim! I love the theme and the pattern as well. I may order that pattern.
  20. Paul does wonderful patterns and you have done a great job of cutting.
  21. Ray, getting your ability stretched is a good thing. My ability has been stretched for 80 years and it is now at it's breaking point.
  22. I'm glad for you. I'm sure you'll be making some happy sawdust!
  23. I think the local landfill will stroke my ego. None of my crap is suitable for good will.
  24. I should not give you my advice but here goes. I have never had any of the saws you mentioned. What I have is a 220vs Ultra Hawk purchased used for $200. It need a new controller for $150. I was aware of this when I bought it as the owner handed me the old controller. I now have a most formidable saw for under $400. Used Hawks come up frequently on craigs list at often attractive prices. JMHO
  25. We don't add people we love to welcome them. Glad to have you here. If you need help there are a lot of people here to give it.
