  1. The simplicity emphasizes the sentiment. Well done!
  2. Spectacular! Thanks for sharing.
  3. I particularly like the way you used the grain to enhance the impact. Well done!!
  4. Very nice cut!
  5. Excellent! Don't you love working with the walnut?!
  6. Very nice! Great results especially as a first effort! Bruce
  7. Nice! Well done, Marg!
  8. Highs: Designing a piece, cutting it and loving the result. Seeing the look on someone's face when you give them a gift designed specifically for them. Completing a project and wanting to start the next one immediately. Lows: Designing a piece, cutting it and THEN deciding the balance/composition/elements don't work together. Losing a dropout on the last cut of the project. Knowing you are tired but deciding to press on with the cut anyway - with disastrous results.
  9. They look great. Clean cutting and awesome effect!! Well done.
  10. Ditto on the FD Ultra Reverse. #1, 3 and 5 handle everything I tackle beautifully.
  11. Edge gluing is not difficult. If you buy 3 clamps with 12+ inches of capacity you will be able to handle the length you are likely to use for scrolling. 1. Cut 2 pieces to length. 2. Hold the edges together to see if there are any gaps showing (this means the edges are not flat) 3. If the edges are close to being straight, put a bead of titebond on the edges. 4. Position the clamps on on each end and in the middle. 5. Tighten the clamps snugly but not so hard that the clamps dent the wood. 6. Let the glue dry for 45 minutes then remove the clamps. 7 use a putty knife to remove the excess glue. 8 let the piece dry overnight. 9. Use a sander to level the surfaces. Decent used Jointer planes are available on ebay which take a little experience but guarantee beautifully flat edges. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stanley-Bailey-No-7-Corrugated-Jointer-Plane-U-S-PAT-APR-19-10/253244584581?hash=item3af68db285:g:8ygAAOSwridZ~7dj Here's a youtube video: (In my experience he is over-tightening the clamps.) One word of warning: You are entering the woodworking addiction zone......... Bruce
  12. Wow. I am impressed, Randy.
  13. That is spectacular, Paul!
  14. I have always been a little frustrated when a 2-page pattern does not align well. I discovered a trick that helps. If I print the first page normally then flip the second page so it prints upside down the alignment is much closer. I always print out of inkscape. I use the command: Object; Rotate 90 CCW or Rotate 90 CW. (You need to select everything in the pattern and use the command Object; Group before you rotate) This works for .PDF files as well as .SVG files (Inkscape files) Bruce
  15. Inkscape file uploaded to the pattern directory.

Love it. That is very distinctive.
  20. Some of your best work, Kevin. Beautiful.
  21. This is a plaque I designed and scrolled for a dear friend. The plaque is cut in .45" Jatoba and is finished with danish oil and wipe-on poly. The font used for the word Redeemer is Parchment with massive simplification for the capital R to make it scrollable. By comparison to my last project, this was a relatively easy pattern to cut. The plaque measured 12.5 x 7 5/8. If there is interest, I will upload the pattern. (Edit: I have uploaded the inkscape file pattern)
  22. That is beautiful. I love how the frame supports the subject!
