  1. Great job, Brady. Fantastic first project, with sanding and stain it will look even better. Make sure you keep that first one. Someone wise told me that here in another forum. Also, don't forget to sign and date it.
  2. It was a spur of the moment Halloween costume to hand out candy to the little people 4 or 5 yrs ago. Mystery solved?? or is it??? (Insert Twilight Zone theme music)
  3. I've noticed this side 'wobble' of the blade on my Porter-Cable. I guess I have adjusted as it doesn't affect the cut as I work. But then again mine is only about 2 months old.
  4. I found a couple of old stools someone was giving away on CL today. No padding, pink (Bright Pink, no less), top was loose and the legs wobbly. They were PERFECT!!! LOL. Wood glue, an old foam cushion and piece of upholstery fabric and I have a new stool to sit on for cutting. The one I 'fixed up' is still pink and the legs were a bit long...cut off 2 inches and at daaaaa.
  5. Thanks for the encouragement everyone. At this point, I have more patterns than I may ever cut, but I have a variety to choose from, I suppose.
  6. Well here is my second project I tackled. It's a bit more challenging, but love how it looks. The pattern was a picture of a tattoo I found online.
  7. Great tip, Dave. I'll have to start doing that as well. Sometimes the smallest things, make time at the saw more enjoyable.
  8. Hello from Alaska, Ken. Newbie scroller here also, but you are well on your way.
  9. Hello from Alaska, Randi. I too am just beginning and my advice would be take your time and practice, practice. Glad to have you aboard.
  10. I've been checking CL for that very thing, Jim. No luck yet, but as soon as I go buy one, someone will be giving away 4 of them.
  11. The stand that came with my Porter Cable is a bit tall for me, but I sit to scroll. My back wouldn't tolerate standing that long. I had to add two cushions to the chair and am debating just cutting a few inches off the legs with a hacksaw. It's that or just build a stand so I can sit and work w/o the cushions.
  12. A hearty Alaska hello, Gav. Great cuttings there for a first attempt.
  13. A hearty Alaskan hello,Troy.
  14. It would be a slim chance, Dan. I delivered mainly south of Tudor along Lk. Otis back then, the Abbott Rd area, more specifically. Alaska definitely grows on folks once they live here a while.
  15. Howdy from Alaska, Scott. So many talented people here. Questions and comments are what makes this work. I look forward to checking in here every day.
  16. Hehehe...I love it...scrolling combined with detective work. LOL
  17. That's the spirit. Sawdust means you are scrolling!!
  18. We aren't supposed to SAVE the sawdust??? OMG!! I have been cringing every time a speck gets on the dog and he runs out. Good news is I can give back my wife's Tupperware I have purloined for sawdust storage.
  19. Welcome from Alaska, Tom. Glad to have you along.
  20. Thanks for all the positive comments. I think I have found my calling. Been trying different hobbies since retiring. Knew I wanted to work with wood, but not a 'carpenter' like my Dad was. I was always a bit more arty (his word) Scrolling merges the art with the wood. Yes,the bug has bitten and not lookin' for repellent.
  21. Welcome George and many good wishes in your scrolling adventures from Alaska.
  22. OOPs...only meant to quote the last sentence about test tube racks... A picture would be fun to see...a peek into the lair of the reclusive scroll sawers, see only on occasion when out buying wood, blades, finishes, stain and did I mention more blades. Just a thought.
  23. Welcome aboard. These are some of the nicest, most helpful people on the web I have found. Enjoy and post pics of those projects.
  24. A picture of my first ever scrolled project. Plans are to paint it and mount it to a black background piece.
