  1. You can buy adapters for most 18/20 volt batteries to use with other tools. I sure do wish they would standardize on batteries.
  2. I had two wrong item shipments and resolved this with a phone call. Both times, they told me to keep the items and refunded my money. I have a ten-pound bag of broken glass I'm told is used in a gas fireplace that I don't know what to do with. Both orders were for shipping boxes. I received a washing machine part and a box of glass that were shipped in the size of the boxes I ordered.
  3. More parts equal more points where something can fail. I don't think where the motor is mounted has much to do with it. For me, ease of blade changes is a top priority. I had a little AMT cast iron saw for many years, and it never had an issue. I bought a used RBI Hawk and refurbished and upgraded it. It didn't cut any better than the AMT but had a larger capacity. Then I saw a video demonstrating how easy it was to change the blades in an EX-21, and I had to have one. I found a used EX-21 and loved it. So, if I have to rebuild the saw every couple of years, that's OK with me. I now have an EX-21 and Pegas. The Hawk and the AMT saws are long gone.
  4. I had an older RBI Hawk I bought used, and I came to hate it.
  5. Having a Grizzly G9928 flex shaft sander and Dremel tools to compare, I much prefer a foot speed control to twist a knob to set the speed. If I had the batteries already, I might give it a try. My Grizzly costs $109, and you still need something to hang it on. I have zero issues with buying from Harbor Freight Bauer or Hercules brands, although I would prefer Hercules. I don't have any of their battery-powered tools because they didn't exist when I started buying them.
  6. I have been fortunate not to have bad customers. However, I do get the occasional email asking about sizes, even when the size is in the photos and description.
  7. If it is a 1/4-inch shank, then it is going to depend on what you are going to use it for and what speed. Anything you can mount a drill chuck on should work.
  8. Does anyone know what size the shank is in the drums?
  9. I have a Grizzly G9928 - Flex Shaft Grinder. It works, but all the accessories I have for it are Dremel. King Arthur Tools is about five miles from my house. Maybe I should look at what they have if they have a storefront. The accessories look like they could be connected to anything with a suitable drill chuck. If this is the case, then I could hook this up to my drill press, my Shopsmith, or a handheld drill.
  10. I, too, am concerned about the speed. I sent them a message this morning asking about the RPM. The Guinevere has been around for a long time. I don't think they had DC motors like we have today, and speed control for induction motors is a no-go. You can control the speed on universal motors, but you lose torque at slow speeds. Modern DC motors had full torque across the speed range. Now, if you could figure out how to hook the sanding accessories to a DC motor from a treadmill that would work well. I can build a speed control for one of these easily and cheap.
  11. They do have some dust collection. All of the rotary tools throw a lot of dust. If I am using mine for heavy sanding, I hold it near my dust collection, and that gets the bulk of it.
  12. Do you own one of these? https://katools.com/guinevere/ I see many projects here that this could be used for. Bowls and Intarsia for sure.
  13. I like these toy cars a lot. I originally made two of each color, but some of them were gone before I thought of making a group photo.
  14. I knew this would open a can of worms.
  15. I don't know my favorite so that I will go by volume. I have made a few thousand animal cutouts. I taught myself to use the scroll saw making these. Kids love them; several sets are still in use after 40 years. I keep patterns ready to go in the shop, and when the pile of cutoffs gets high, I will cut animals from these odd pieces.
  16. I have known about this for years preweb and Bob Flexner is probably where I got it from. I used to subscribe to an industry news magazine for woodworking, and he had a regular column there that I always read. I also have his books.
  17. I've seen many posts over the years about finishes and tried all sorts of things. I watched this yesterday and thought it might be of interest.
  18. Grizzly G5553 - Motor Arbors - 5/8" Arbor - 1/2" Keyless Chuck They also have this in 1/2".
  19. I would go for the buffer provided it is also slow-speed at 1800 rpm or less. I think that 1800 is still to fast. I run my sanding mop and Mac Mops on a drill press so I can slow it down.
  20. https://www.fincen.gov/sites/default/files/shared/BOI_Small_Compliance_Guide.v1.1-FINAL.pdf
  21. There is a document on the website that explains who has to register. I'm not even close.
  22. This new thing does not affect me. I'm one of the excluded ones.
  23. Just out of curiosity, I checked my local Florida big box stores to see what the current price for alcohol was. Neither Lowes nor Homedepot have any. What is up with that, I wonder? Ace Hardware has it in 5-gallon cans, and I can buy it in gallons on Amazon for $30. I need to check the price for Everclear.
  24. My pegas came with one of the Seyco magnetic mats. I hated it. Wood slides much better on waxed steel or cast iron.
  25. Use 91% isopropyl alcohol if you can get it. Everclear (95% alcohol) is perfect though expensive. You can buy Everclear at a liquor store. There are lots of others that may work, but they may damage your project. Everclear is a brand name for rectified spirit, also known as grain alcohol or neutral spirit, produced by the American company Luxco. It's made from grain, typically corn, and bottled at various alcohol-by-volume (ABV) levels.
