  1. According to Patrick Speilman, silicon on or in the tape keeps the tape from sticking together. The silicon gets on the saw blade as it passes through the tape and provides lubrication. He writes about this in one of his books, where he shows photos of cherry cut with and without the tape. The cherry burns when it is cut without the tape. I suspect that all tapes are not created equal, which may explain variations in results.
  2. Facts are facts. They are neither negative nor positive. Salvage wood is not free, and it takes time, effort, and money to salvage it. I know this from experience. I have salvaged wood in my shop now and make things with it.
  3. Yet another expense to add to the cost of reclaimed/free wood.
  4. Unless you are getting it dropped on your front porch or picking it up around your neighborhood, reclaimed wood can get very expensive. Ruin an expensive saw blade by hitting some hidden metal, and the big box lumber starts to look a lot cheaper. Been there, done that.
  5. I used an aquarium air pump on an AMT scroll saw for years. They are cheap and last for years.
  6. Not a problem for me. I use Etsy shipping and USPS for all my shipping. Everything I ship has a tracking number.
  7. My daughter asked me to make a sign for her. It's a memorial for a friend who died. I know very little about making patterns. I have attache the photo she sent me. Simple is better.
  8. Thans, I just ordered two of these books.
  9. I run everything through Inkscape to produce patterns I like and easily resize to the size I need. I'm not an expert Inkscape user. When I need to do something I don't know how to do, I look it up. It's well worth the effort to learn.
  10. There is no such thing as a smooth one coat paint on wood unless you are happy with you pieces feeling like sandpaper.
  11. So its a puzzle.
  12. If it is a scam or something else goes wrong, eBay will refund your money. I have received a refund several times over the years. I got a refund last week.
  13. Upgrade if made in Taiwan. I bought mine used several years ago. Parts and support are available from Ray at Seyco
  14. No, I spray house paint and cheap craft acrylics. You will need a larger tip size and thin the paint some. I only use distilled water to thin. Chemicals in the water can react with chemicals in the paint and cause problems.
  15. Some old topics should be revived.
  16. I was wondering if you had considered the Harbor Freight saw. It would be my first choice if I needed to replace my saw. I have a 12-inch Hitachi that I purchased several years ago for a project where I had to cut many landscape timbers and 4x4s. Thinking I would sell it when the project was done, I liked the sliding saw so much I kept it.
  17. To sell on Etsy, you have to have excellent photos. The more, the better. People can't touch your items, so the photos are what is going to make the sale. Customers must find your products. Keywords in Tags and titles are where Etsy search takes place. Figuring out Etsy SEO is quite a challenge, but you have to do it. People will search for some of the craziest things. I was shocked to discover the "gift for mum" and similar were common search terms. Some people do well on Etsy without doing much work. I have a friend that makes bases for antique sewing machines. His Etsy shop is empty much of the time because he sells them about as fast as he can make them. He breaks all the rules except photos. He is one of the exceptions. If there is a lot of competition for your product, you have to figure out how to stand out. For example, searching for "wood toy cars" in Etsy search today returns 6,535 results. If the only keyword I have is "wood toy cars," what do you think the chances are that one of my toys showing up on page one? Just in case your curious, I am on page three today. Selling online is hard work for most of us.
  18. I suspected as much. I have storage issues and don't like making things that I have to keep for a year to sell. I would need to make at least one to photograph and post a listing.
  19. I'm slowly raising prices.
  20. That is an interesting idea. I could personalize more than signs without a laser. Thanks
  21. Ctrl-A to select all, and the number of objects is shown on the bottom of the page.
  22. Search amazon for diamond needle file. Then switch the search to "low to high." Scroll down until you find one yo like. There are lots of them.
  23. 3M WorkTunes with Bluetooth is what I wear in the shop. They are noise reducing not noise canceling. I were Peltor electronic muffs for shooting.
  24. If I can get the shop time, which has been tough to do for more than a year, I'll go through the large 16.75 oz cans of 3M77 4 to 5 in a year.

What material are you suing to cut these in the video? What kind of glue are you using?
