Has any one replaced the upper & lower arm bearings RBI G4

I joined the SAW about 8 or 9 yrs. ago for 1 year, that was to long!! Never had any thing worth reading, I always thought it was a complete flop

Kevin is correct about the bushing being referred to as bearings, that's what Hegner uses there pressed into the arms with shoulder bolt, Hans from Advanced Machinery once told me a couple drops of light weight oil 3n1 or sewing machine oil works great.The oil will find it's way between the bolt and bushing when you run your saw. JT, you mentioned the use of Bostik bearing lubricant, how does that work as an oil lubracant on escrow saw bearings. I bought a can today at the Woodcraft store !! Is it better than using light weight oil, I have never seen any thing like it so thought I would ask . It's not cheap, 18.00 for a 5.5 oz can. Would be interested in knowing how much better than oil it might be. thanks Roger

Ray, what I have been doing lately I use the pre stain on my projects, let set for about 20 minutes give it a chan e to soak in good. Then wipe it down a little and then go with the Watco cover it good I use small brush or sponge brush let set for about 20 mins. or so then hit it again let that set for 15 mins then wipe off any excess.Let set and dry good for a couple days then spray with satin poly, let it dry good take piece of paper bag and wipe it down like you were sanding it very easy then give it a second coat of poly. That's how I do my projects. rdv

There are two things you can do, (1) use a backer on the bottom, (2) put painter's tape on the back of the bottom piece!! rdv

Frisch2481, First of all congratulations on the new saw , it will be a big learning curve if you have never used a Hegner before, The first thing I will say to you is read the manual study it and practice with it , a fellow that I took carving blessing from his famous words were PRACTIC,PRACTICE,PRACTICE. I still set down and practice to the day, I'll take a square make straight lines, cut circles practice, PRACTICE. I have owned 2 hegner, 2 RBI HAWK ULTRAS, they are both great machines, I LEARNED on the RBI And I just feel more at ease on it.The Hegner is a great machines also and it will take work to learn how to use it effectively just like the RBI. DO not bye any means get upset or disgusted with your work, if first you fail try again. There is very little maintenance on the Hegner or the RBI Oil your arm bearing every so often just don't get carried away with the oil. Start on something easy, keep your table waxed. Enjoy!! Here is some more info on the Pegas scroll saw, this is from a flyer that GrobetUSA was handing out at the wood show. Head tilts left and right 45/35, upper arm can be raised. Speed 400 to 1500 rpm, blower and dust collector, uses the new chuck heads, off on switch up front with speed control. Developed in Switzerland and made in Taiwan. What really got my attention was the pricing, saw only 649.00 saw with stand 719.00 saw + stand + foot peddle 739.00 And if I were to take a wild guess I'd bet Woodcraft will be a retailer here in the states, that's just a guess only because their a Pegas blade distributor. That's about all I know about it. rdv
