  1. Works for me! The other thing I can think of is what about a puzzle display - you could take the puzzle, run a wire through the pieces so kids and customers can "play" with it without having pieces all over the store? Just a thought...
  2. Oh yeah that's it - make me jealous - now I hate you J?K!
  3. I read somewhere that the painters tape goes on the wood, the pattern gets glued to the painters tape and the packing tape holds the paper in place or a stack if needed, so I just add it to all the pieces stacked or not.
  4. Thanks @TripleJScroller Nope, like you my area is not climate controlled and in fact the summer is unbearable in the shop - so much so that I tend to not do much out there during late July and August My wood is usually stored in a shed I have which also is not climate controlled so thanks for the heads up regarding the birch since I just ordered a batch of it - good thing I have an extra rom in the house!
  5. I'm in the process of setting up a bunch of cuts for the wife and myself and was wondering how you all set yourself up for cutting? I figured having a bunch of items taped and glued to appropriate sized wood, would allows us the benefit of being able to go to our stock when the mood hits us, pick up a pattern, put in the appropriate blade and cut. I have about half a dozen patterns stored up and was about to take the day and set up a few dozen. From what I can tell, most will set up and cut rather than store up stock for cutting, correct? Thoughts? Anything wrong with this method you can think of - glue won't hold long enough, tape sticks too much etc? Thanks in advance
  6. I have too much scrap to take pics of LOL - it's in my shed, it's in my yard and it's in my shop/garage
  7. Yah, I have 3m 45 - used to have 77 but it was way too gunky for me and got every where - 45 is still a bit sticky when I get it on my hands, but it is adhesive after all I really need to learn to use the 2 boxes of latex gloves I have LOL
  8. Thanks - yes animal type puzzles I haven't seen patterns for actual puzzles yet
  9. When cutting a puzzle, how do you proceed? In other words, do you cut the outline first and then cut out the pieces or do you cut the pieces while you're cutting the whole piece? I'll assume that if there is fretwork you cut that first no matter which way the rest is cut? Correct? Thanks in advance
  10. So, I put painters tape on the wood, spray adhesive on the pattern and place it on the painters tape, then place clear packing tape over the pattern. However, when I cut small cuts/turns, often the pattern lifts off the wood away from the painters tape and flops around while I'm trying to make the cut. Anyone have any suggestions for keeping the pattern adhered? I'm using repositionable temporary spray adhesive as the adhesive should I be using the sticky messy 45 instead? Thanks as always in advance.
  11. Lol - they'd hear a lot more than that in my shop... *&^$%@#$- "Just broke a blade!" "Ouch *&^%$## that hurt" "Wheres that $#%&#*#%^$#* pencil" LOL and so much more
  12. My natural instinct (I've broken 2 now) is to jump back and say #&$*(%#()#* *whew*
  13. Glad it works for you But Oh, that is never going to happen in my house LOL All I need is for Amazon to be listening in to everything I say - yeah right, just like I'm going to give them a key to my house so they can make deliveries easier LOL yeah right!
  14. Thanks all appreciate the responses. Thanks @bobscroll - great idea - I'm in the process of making one of these font guides as well! Thanks for the link @WayneMahlerdafont.com - I've not seen this site before.
  15. Very cool - thanks for sharing
  16. One thing I can't seem to remember is to turn on my dust system when I start using a machine I currently have 2 dust systems setup . One is my HF 2 hp dust machine hooked up to my table saw and work benches. The other system is my Rigid shop vac with a dust deputy hooked up to my mobile tool carts. To solve my problem, I added these Remote Switches to both units. This way I can turn on/off either system no matter where I am in the shop or at which tool. I mention this because, the power switch for the Wen is under the table, and since I've added a zero insert (piece of plywood lol) to the top of the table, it's even more difficult to get to the power switch. I'm now hooking one of these switches up to my Scroll saw, and placing the remote on top of the arm. This makes it much easier to turn the saw on and off when I need - for fretwork, blade changes etc. Heck I even have one of these switches to turn on/off my rope lights in my Lanai!
  17. I'm working on modifying a few of the patterns I've downloaded and thought I'd add some text to the bottom Are there any particular fonts you all favor, specifically when the text is a simple subtitle below an item. Example: Thanks as always in advance
  18. `Oh yeah, that's a great idea I hadn't thought of! Thanks Marg!
  19. Not sure why - looks really good to me Thanks for sharing
  20. Sweet - on my list of things to try as well Nice job - thanks for sharing
  21. LOL - too funny, but makes sense
  22. Thanks to every one for the help and guidance - you're a great bunch of people! Here is my first Fretwork! Done on my Wen (with my new technique for setting the blade, worked great!): I did it out of 3/4 Ply with #3 FD, took 2 blades to finish. I think I can do it out of pine now. Maybe try it again soon - Heck I'm amazed I can even tell what it is LOL! Also got a few Silhouettes and portraits - not sure what I'll do with them yet if anything
  23. Thanks all - so on the 2nd one - I would not be able to have silhouette/portrait cutout - I would have for lack of a better term, a statue?
  24. Sorry about all the questions, but the more I read the more confused I get... When cutting a pattern, do you cut the White or the black? I'm confused on what I'm supposed to cut. For example: This I think is a silhouette, so I cut around the image and lose the outside, correct? But what do I cut for this the white part or the black? How do I know which to cut - some patterns 'X' out the white and others say nothing. Thanks in advance
  25. I've been reading where many use a foot switch for their scrollsaw. If you do, are you using a deadman's switch (press down to start, lift off to stop) or an on and off switch? I tried a deadman's switch, but it was too much "thinking". Thanks as always in advance
