  1. Charles Neil on YouTube is the master finisher in my opinion. Sadly I read he passed away not long ago but here is a video on finishing pine. Just search his name and he'll keep you busy for awhile.
  2. As always, beautiful work Dave.
  3. Very very nice. Well done!
  4. I tried the chuck from Rockler and found it to be worthless. I have a benchtop drill press that takes a number 61 bit with no problems.
  5. Stephen Robert Irwin, nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian zookeeper, conservationist and television personality. Wikipedia Born: February 22, 1962, Essendon, Australia Died: September 4, 2006, Batt Reef, Australia Spouse: Terri Irwin (m. 1992–2006) Children: Bindi Irwin, Robert Clarence Irwin Irwin died at 44, after being pierced in the heart by a stingray barb while filming an underwater documentary titled Ocean's Deadliest.[1]
  6. Definitely creative. Well done.
  7. Ahhhh.... Steve Irwin. Well done. Looks great.
  8. Funny you said that. I thought the same thing! Well done.
  9. So this is my first time stack cutting. 3 pcs of 1/8 bb ply. Tried it with a simple pattern. First time using something other than a 2/0 blade. Ended up using a FD ur 1. Was surprised how clean the cuts were. Virtually no fuzzies. The backer was 3 pcs of 1/4 bb. The fd ur 1 wasn’t cutting it so I went to a fd ur3 which worked well. Some things I learned were that a number 3 blade has no problem cutting through your finger tip and through a fingernail. Make the backers a little larger so you have some room to work with. Requires a lot more finishing time. Didn’t like using packing tape. They turned out ok. Steve Good Pattern.
  10. Also very sorry for your loss. You do nice work. They say the higher power has plans for us all. Let's learn, let's believe and let's grow from all things thrown at us.
  11. My pointers would be a foot switch right off the bat. Harbor freight has them pretty cheap about $15.00 if I remember right. They have 2 kinds. You want the one where it's on with one click and shuts off with another. Good lighting and then some more lighting. I also use a magnifying light which really helps. I personally only use 2 drill bits now both which I'm able to use in my drill press. A 1/16" and a number 61 which I order off Amazon. A dust mask, ventilation, box fan with a filter etc. Never stop challenging yourself. I like to pick patterns I like but also patterns that challenge me. Lots of straight lines, circles, letters, etc.
  12. Welcome Brandon....from another Sacramentan.
  13. Very very nice!
  14. I fought this same thing for quite some time. This last piece I did I also sanded both ends and haven't had a blade slip out yet.
  15. Another Alex Fox cut. First time using Zebrawood. Really like the contrast between the frame and the piece. The frame was finished with 50/50 wipe on poly/mineral spirits, 3 coats. Then 4-5 coats of semi gloss lacquer after a week. All cut with an Olson 2/0 Blade. I used African Mahogany for the splines.
