  4. We went (my lovely wife and I) to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Pretty cool - and - we made the mistake a few times of calling him Van GO .. I guess that's just what us ENGLISH speaking dips do. We were actually RUDELY corrected more than once .. hahahahaha .. "You Americans! It's pronounced VAN GOFF, NOT Van GOLF or VAN GO, it's VAN GOFF" I just smiled and said .. I'm just an ignorant Californian wanting to see some VAN GO stuff, can you tell me where to find the VAN GO Museum?" hahahahahahaha
  5. Looks really good .. I'm gonna have to go get that pattern now !!!

  9. Hahahahahaha .. Worst singer EVER in the history of the world .. but .. good on the guitar .. HORRIBLE on the harmonica .. and .. great with lyrics !!!! Even won a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE . . . I think. Or one of those types of prizes .. way way back. Well - not too far back. The Byrds made their entire career on his music .. taking it and putting better vocals on it. hahahahaha .. GREAT WORK ON THIS !!!! Great Job !!!
  10. WOW .. that is GREAT WORK !!!!!
  11. @crupiea hahahahaha .. I know what you mean .. that's hilarious .. I did 20 in the Coast Guard, then, another 15 as a Deputy Sheriff .. man - I'd HATE to be a cop nowadays .. but .. I'd love to be back in, the service - Navy and Coast Guard were just one big family. I spent many a day at Navy schools, stand SP for the Navy when I was on duty in Long Beach and San Diego (home town). Almost every weekend - the Navy and CG were playing either Baseball or football on the grass in Mission Bay. Miss those days. I see you're in C.V. - me - I'm up in NorCal .. Sonoma County. I took my wife down that way - before we got married - I told her - "you're gonna see why I stayed in Sonoma County. I didn't know that the mountains and hills actually had trees. In San Diego - they have only BOULDERS. Lots and Lots of Boulders." She couldn't believe it. I took her in via Hwy 15 - so she could see where I grew up .. Murrieta and Clairemont .. GO WARHAWKS .. hahahahaha . . . Okay .. thanks ..I'll download that picture .. and give it a try .. I will post it up so you can see it .. and have it done for him by the time he gets out of boot camp. What do you think? 1/4" Baltic Birch or 1/2" ????? I have 3/4" too .. in fact .. I just found a source .. YOU WON'T BELIEVE this .. I just picked up 3 sheets .. full sheets .. of 1/8" BB and 24" perfect circles of 3/4" BB .. the good stuff .. for free .. I could have taken more, but, I'll go down again tomorrow .. and get more. WHAT A SCORE. Well .. Thanks, sir, and I'll talk to you later. We'll be coming down that way as soon as it's safe to travel again. Fair Winds and Following Seas !!!!
  12. My Grandson - just left for the NAVY today. I could not be more proud. This is truly a great one! I think I would love to make this for him so when he gets out of boot camp (at Great Lakes) It would be ready for him. I'm with Amazing Kevin, though. Man - your stuff is so perfect .. just wondering how ..
  13. Dan .. anyway I can get that Giraffe pattern ??? I would love to try to do one of those ... Thanks, Gus
  14. ALEX !!! Always Fantastical !!!!
  15. I spent 20 years in the Coast Guard .. did you make that pattern ? I've been looking for one .... GREAT JOB on it .. Semper Paratus !!!
  16. WOW .. that is great .. first try .. and YOU NAILED IT !!!!
  17. I REALLY disliked the TV version of M.A.S.H., ... but ... I LOVED the movie version of it. I could watch it over and over. I still don't like much of ANYTHING that Alan Alda acts in. BUT IT'S A GREAT CUT .. for sure !!!! GOOD JOB .... Now .. let's see .. Can ya do the MOVIE VERSION ? haahhahaha ...
  18. Oh .. the rose was cut from the 1/2" walnut . .. . all with a 2/0 Pegas. I was actually trying to break it .. as I was using the same one I used on BRODY's small cuts. It finally broke near the end of this. hahahahahaa .. it was SOOOOOO dull by that point. hahahhaa
  19. I drew the dog. I draw stuff, well, I draw a big mess then go to work with an eraser. BUT . I could NOT get the heart right. So - with the help of the community - we got the heart just right. The heart on this is cut from a 2" thick piece of clear redwood. Old stuff. Big stuff. The dog is cut out of 3/4" cedar - when I got done planing and stuff, it ended up at 3/4". Then .. it has a backer of 1/8" BB Ply painted black, and, attached (glued) to the back of the heart is another 1/8" BB Ply piece. This measures almost 16" long and 11 inches wide. All cut with mostly a #5 FD, the itty bitty places were cut with my trusty 2/0 FD. It's MINWAX Spar Urethane brushed on for the finish. The little letters spelling out BRODY were done in that BURL WALNUT I get locally. I love that stuff. With the left overs from the piece I cut the letters from .. I made that Rose for my wife's birthday. So - that worked great. I think that's it. Except .. a big thanks to the community for helping me with that DANGED heart !!!
  20. Or maybe you could direct me to them thru a link or something ?
  21. Alex - I've seen you put lights in some of these "shadow boxes" - There are a few of us here trying to put some of these together. What sort of LED lights and stuff are you using for those, if you don't mind sharing that? Thanks, Gus
  22. Kev .. I have the Pegas. I like the RBI better. It has less vibration and I love setting the blade to be more or less aggressive. I could not believe .. when I called their tech support - told 'em - "I've just broken 7 Pegas 2/0 blades, just by throwing the tension lever over, and, not all the way, just where I'm supposed to" --- he says ---- I know. You have to lift up on the chuck a bit so that it doesn't stay to tight, just make it looser. Or, use a flying dutchmen. They don't seem to break in our chucks on that saw. Oh man .. SERIOUSLY? Okay. So - now I only use the PEGAS 2/0's in the RBI. hahahahaha
  23. I got mine from a jewelry/crafts place in Fairfield California. They were about 4 bucks (a little less) for a dozen. I have broken one ( #68 ) because of a BONE-HEAD move .. lifted the wood right into the bit going across the .. anyway .. broke it. I'm drilling with a dremel work station - and - have not had another problem. I think Seyco sells his for about 7 bucks for a 10 pack. That's a descent price. And I can't find who I ordered those bits from .... but I remember it was in either Fairfield or Fairfax Ca.
  24. I put the carter's on .. I love 'em .. I have to get the stabilizer next - then I can use the 1/8 and 3/16" blades. Until then .. I bought a little RYOBI 9" that takes a 59 inch blade .. and .. it runs the 1/8 and 3/16" blades like a champ. But - it's WAY underpowered .. so .. just cutting 1" stuff and below with it right now. Gotta get that STABLIZER ..
  25. Kevin -- I have the 220vs also . . . love it. It's about 40 years old. Put 50 bucks worth of new parts on it about a month ago. But - have not put the new upper blade holder on yet. What did YOU use to knock that pin out, and, then put it back in. I don't want to damage that upper arm. There's a young lady - about 63 or 64 - about 400 miles from me .. with a 26" model for sale .. pretty inexpensive. I'm thinking of taking the trip to meet her and get it. What d'ya think. I have that Ridgid, the 220VS RBI and a Pegas. I like the 220vs better than the pegas. So .... get the 26 incher ? Gus
