So - I got me a scroll saw. But - being OCD - I got FOUR of 'em. An RBI HAWK, DREMEL, RIDGID and a Pegas.
Then I set out to see what I could do. I Disc Golf, a bit, and we all compete for "BAG TAGS". They are about 3 1/2 to 4 inches in diameter - so - I knew I would have to get small. I looked at all of your pictures - watched hours and hours of videos. Read countless hours. Then - got to work on some stuff on the RBI. Sold the Dremel without even taking it out and powering it up. And the Ridgid just sits there collecting dust. So - RBI and Pegas seem to be my tools of choice.
So - We have a little group of us that play together in the hills of Sonoma County, California. Very nice place. If you're over 60 - you're in the HOGS. "happy ole guys of sonoma". Most of us are pushing 70. And we have a few in the 40-60's playing with us. Got me some scrap wood. Wood Flooring left overs, book cases I could knock apart, bed headboards, things friends had hanging around that they couldn't fit in the garbage cans and didn't want to make a dump run with. Those things that they put around the good wood when transporting them to the lumber yards so the banding won't scar the good wood, it's either throw 'em away or give 'em to Gus. And I tried my hand at the scroll saw. Finally. I didn't like some of the patterns I saw - like YODA. So - after watching more and more hours of video - I attempted and came up with my version of Yoda, which I shared here. I'm working on Josey Wales now. That one's taking a long time. And made one of my Grandkids Daddy - looks just like him - using some of Steve Goods patterns for Fathers Day. Anyway .. here are a couple that I've made. That I like - and - I'm going to attempt a logo type of thing for a friend of mine that makes me some special lures that seem to catch fish all the time. Any fish, any where.
Thanks for looking and .. any criticism is greatly appreciated ... oooo just got a text - someone has a SOLID CEDAR HEADBOARD they want to give to me. Okay ..
Oh .. and the tags ? They sell for 20-40 bucks apiece. The one with the guy on it throwing a disc - looks just like Dave - that was 40 bucks. 4 inches out of scrap flooring.
