Nice baskets JT. I made a few different designs several years back. Made some that were flat so that they could be hung on a wall. Made some heart shaped ones too. Yours are very nice with the angle cuts on the ends of the blocks. But all glue? No pin nails?

All finished now. Went with the spray can as a finish. I know that there really was't a need to burn the back side of it, but put a flame in my hand and I can't control myself!

Thank you,, I wouldn't say that I have any artistic abilities either. LOL That reminds me of a question always asked in a PBS show that I have seen a few times. It's called A Craftsman's Legacy. The host always ask the person that he is working with on each episode if they thought they were more of a Craftsman or an Artist. Myself, I'm just a "tinkerer".

The red and blue both are water based stain. Initially I didn't burn the Union area but it was too clean and bright compared to the stripes. So I went back and lightly burned it after the stars were on. I burned the red stripes before the stain.

My first attempt at making a flag. I still need to put a finish on it. Not sure if I will use something from a can or maybe go a little thicker with a 2 part epoxy. I was gonna use a dremel and carve out the stars but went the easy way with some spray paint. I will use the dremel on my next one...maybe. Finish pics are in a post below.

Howdy Jason, I'm new here myself. I'm finding out that everyone here is good people. I started out on that Porter Cable saw from Lowes with no complaints. Just got a new Dewalt a few days ago,, gonna try to convince the wife to let me open it up before Christmas.

Thanks everyone! Much appreciated. I'm working on an American Flag right now but this thing called work keeps getting in the way! No scroll saw used on the flag,, I'll post a pic when it is complete. This is the first one I have made and it's turning out pretty nice so far.

Cut out my first portrait last night. I thought that I would start off with an easy one. I was just gonna cut the portrait out and toss it aside but it came out better than I thought it would so I decided to put a backer on it,, just used an old piece of plywood. I will use nicer wood for my next one. Also made some Santa's for friends and family. I have made this one before in a bigger size and it turned out pretty good.. I'm not liking the face on these 4, maybe because they are too small for all of the face detail? The first Santa looks like he is hunkered over a bit, just the camera angle. Had to try my hand at that Grinch pattern too!

I got one of each, The Craftsman and the Shop Vac. Both were $40. Didn't know which one would fit my small shop the best. I'm gonna keep the Shop Vac. It has a smaller footprint than the Craftsman. The Shop Vac comes with only a 1 1/2" hose but I have a Rockler Dust separator hooked up to the vac.

I was thinking the same about the antenna. I thought about deleting the antenna, but the details is what makes it nice. I guess I didn't look close enough at the grill, it will be a bugger too!

Howdy, I've been scrolling for just a little over a year, mostly Steve Good's patterns and some of my own. All of which have been easy for me, just follow the lines. I found in SSV's pattern shop my dream car. My question is, what part do I cut out? I just can't "see" it in my head yet. The car is not flat, it is 3D. Is all of the black parts just a backer board? If so, are the two wheels that you see a separate cut-out and are just floating? A few years ago I bought my wife her dream car..a Plum Crazy Dodge Challenger....it was only about the size of my palm and would honk it's horn if you pushed the little black button on the top,, and then a few years later we actually got her that car in life size. I'm thinking along the same lines for me. Make this "toy" car and maybe a real one will show up in my driveway soon! BTW, thanks for the pattern tennman!

I was thinking the same,, 5X is too much. I, like you,, will also mount mine on something other than what the saw is setting on, which is why the one in my link caught my eye, it sits on the floor.

Been using reading glasses for about 2 years now, only at a 1.25 power, but you all know when scroll sawing you need a little more power...and light! What is a good clamp on or floor standing mag/light combo unit?
