Thank you Frank. I originally I thought about paint but quickly realized that wasn’t a good idea since I can’t paint a wall in the house without getting paint on everything in the room. Paper was safer for me.
I thought I would try something different. I cut this and it looked like it needed color. So I decided to try cutting colored paper and gluing it to the back out the top layer. Then glue it to the backer and coat with spray polyurethane.

A friend is retiring and loves eagles, I decided to try on of Grampa’s patterns the eagle to give to her. But I wanted to add a clock to it. This is what I ended up with, I’m pretty happy with it.
