  1. Finished up a few Steve Good “Be Mine” boxes this week. Two with cherry, one with walnut and the last from my first cut of purpleheart. All have hard rock maple side walls. They get a dip in danish oil and after it is cured a lacquer top coat. Fun project to do and the wife gets her pick. Started working on some Sue Mey “Bunny Letters”, this one is for my granddaughter but already have requests for more from friends who took a peek at the finished product.
  2. By hand? Incredible! But most importantly congratulations !
  3. Those look cool Denny. Where did you get the pattern, I would to try one on my Pegas?
  4. Wow, I really like the swing wing design of the trays. Very nicely done!
  5. Thank you to all for such kind words. SSV is such a great community!
  6. Only been at this scrolling stuff since mid November and this one was a challenge. Last week I was perusing SSV in the evening like I always do and I saw Denny Knappen’s heart box of Steve Good’s design. Coincidentally my wife walked by looked over my shoulder and suddenly I was given my next cutting project . I was a bit wary due to the minute detail but she wanted it and valentines is right around the corner. I found some cherry and hard rock maple in the shop and started the layout. Steve Good’s video on box cutting was very helpful. It took a fair bit of sanding but I am pretty pleased with the outcome.
  7. Paladin, I cut those puzzles in the same order you mentioned.
  8. Here you go Sam: https://www.seyco.com/dv-10a-cyclonic-action-scroll-saw-dust-collector/
  9. I always have music on in my shop and the addition of the seyco dust collector did cause me to turn the tunes up a small bit but not bad. It definitely is nowhere near my tablesaw, bandsaw etc which cause me to wear ear muffs when running.
  10. Is that a Boston Terrier cut from butter?. Looks like it from the video! I hope I can get that accurate some day. I actually cut that puzzle this week and learned a couple of things from your video, thanks.
  11. Denny and dgman, I completely agree with need a top-side dust collection and have a few mod ideas for the Seyco. When I make them and they work I will post pictures. I did have to mod my saws table to add a cross brace to mount the seyco as I have my light on the top frame bar but that took 5 minutes.
  12. Kevin, I have actually been using the light for a week now and just love it. I bought off amazon for $45. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MYHYPQ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  13. Based on the shared wisdom here on SSV I purchased a telescopic LED light with 1.5 diopeter and the Seyco dust collector. They both arrived this week so I stopped cutting for a while today (hated that) and put everything in place. The light and magnifier is awesome! The dust collection is a wonderful addition. Thanks to all the guys and gals here who share their opinions and wisdom.
  14. I bought this one a couple of weeks ago and really love it. 15. Munzieb, that would be great to meet you in Greenville for lunch.
  16. Good morning, my name is Todd Wade and I have been a "lurker" around these parts for about 2 months. I live outside Clemson, SC but no, I am not a Clemson fan but rather an unabashed Badger fan, hence my handle Badgerboy. I grew up in Wisconsin with my Dad starting me on woodworking when I was about 8, been in the shop ever since. I have been lucky to have a Dad, Grandfather, and several uncles who were all woodworkers and were all willing to share their wisdom. I recently retired from a career as an Operations Exec in the electronics industry. It is wonderful to have the time at home to be in the shop. During a November visit this past year to my wife's uncle in Minnesota, 88 yr old master carpenter, I was introduced to scroll sawing. Bought my first saw in mid November, Pegas 21", and started to learn the craft. SSV was a HUGE help for which I am very grateful. After running thru several practice patterns from into book recommended on this site I decided to dive into my first project which was inspired by my uncle. These pumpkin faces were a little rough but not a bad start. I moved onto a few Christmas ornaments thanks to Travis and his "Business starter" package that he published in early Dec. Most of these went to family and friends. I did take a shot at a Sue Mey heart frame and now have my 4th frame on the table today as several friends have requested one for Valentines Day. Lastly I have cut several of Iguanadon's dog puzzles which have been very fun. Many thanks to Denny for all his wisdom and assistance when I sneak in a truckload of questions while I have him on the phone to order Pegas MGT blades. Also thanks to Kevin (kmmcrafts) who has been very responsive to questions about the business side I have sent in his direction. I believe going forward my biggest challenge will be to decide which project to work on during my daily shop time. I am finding it difficult to "put down" the scroll saw and go work on the two other furniture commissions I have that need to be done in the next couple of months. Thanks again to all who have shared wisdom in this place, it is a wonderful place to hang out.
  17. My 88 year old Uncle-in-law, who inspired me to start scrolling, always makes a permanent pattern. I believe part of the reason is the computer and printer perplex him at times but mostly it is out of habit. He also taught me to use a “story stick” for my cabinet making projects. He is a master carpenter and at 88 a bit set in his ways which is good with me. I am using paper patterns except for one project set that I have been asked to make many copies and therefore a traceable hard pattern makes sense. I use 1/8 inch stock for these patterns.
  18. WOW, that is a great link thanks!
  19. Very nice Oscar. It appears you may have flipped the thickness of the wreath and backer board from Steve’s pattern, is that correct or just a photo illusion? If so I like the look of the wider wreath against a thin back plane.
