  1. You never cease to amaze me with your artistry and knowledge of your subject. Awesome.
  2. Alex Fox recently posted a beautiful new Christmas pattern which is a Christmas calendar. I bought the pattern to make for my granddaughter. He apparently uses laminated mdf which may be easily sourced in the Ukraine but I cannot seem to find anything but 3/4 here in the US. Has anyone ever sourced the material Alex uses on this side of the pond or know if it goes by another name? Thanks for any suggestions.
  3. Little porch decorations cut on the scrollsaw. Allow me to introduce you to (L to R): Scaredy-cat, Shuby, Boo, Uncle Joe, Plumpkin Pie, and Gourdon.
  4. Thank you
  5. Alex, love the pattern and bought it. I watched the video and I am wondering what exact plywood and materials you used if you would mind sharing. Thanks
  6. Oh that is. Most excellent! Is there a pattern available?
  7. Amazing, you’re endless with these awesome creations of lovely art!
  8. I got a custom made logo burner from Chris @ https://wolverinewoodcraft.com/ He did a great job and the quality of the brass Iron is excellent. I can either burn directly on the piece or make “coins” to hand out or glue on the back of a piece.
  9. That is soooooo outstanding! I love Yosemite Sam.
  10. I agree with dgman, I use 3M 45 only and brush a small amount of mineral spirits on the nozzle after every use, let it soak into the spray head for 5 seconds or so and replace the cap. I never had a spray problem or finishing the entire can. Speaking of 3M 45, anyone else had problems finding supply? I usually have no problem just running into my local big box and grabbing a few cans but recently I have had to search far and wide for just a few cans. Maybe more people are doing crafts being locked up at home.
  11. Bernd, that is stunning. I hope we can meet for lunch soon. Keep cuttin!
  12. That’s the best reason to cut this pattern! Be blessed.
  13. The butterfly is gorgeous but I cannot imagine trying to cut that level of precision. I have also bought some of your patterns and love them.
  14. Here’s my take, yes these are very popular.
  15. Not really scrollsaw work but my wife and I made these last week with fan blades and an old desk leg. Everyone around heres to love dragon flies.
  16. I call it a spigot also Les and your piece is beautiful.
  17. So slowing the saw down and recutting helped a bit. I did end up crossing my fingers and using a chisel with a few firm taps and finally got separation. Task complete and 1 honey on the list checked off. Thanks for the suggestions.
  18. I got an assignment from the wife, please cut the old plastic fan blade in the shape of a dragonfly wing for an outdoor decoration she is making. I thought to myself , well the scrollsaw should work great! I loaded a PS #9 skiptooth in the saw and off I went. As you can see the cut went fine. However, then I became perplexed and chuckled a bit. Apparently the friction from the blade heated up the plastic to the extent that it essentially glued itself back together. So Here I sit wondering now what. I tried recutting the line and quickly inserting a small wedge to create a gap, no luck. Plastic too hard to cut with a utility knife. A chisel will not split the two pieces with out significant force which worries me. Any ideas?
  19. Dang! Now I have to go find that pattern and make it for my granddaughter. Looks really sweet, great job!!!
  20. Your planes are always so incredible!
  21. Thanks Denny, we need to talk soon as I need some more blades.
  22. Dgman, ever the observant one! . Yes a quick fix, need to get the hair dryer out.
  23. Thanks Bernd, I used 1/4 poplar just in case I destroyed it I did not want to be out the expense of a nicer hardwood.
  24. I spent some time this week cutting this fret box from the summer 2018 issue of SSW mag. Nice pattern although I was sweating a few bullets on some of the stems. Well either that our the fact that it is almost a 100 F outside with no cooling in my shop. Still trying to make a decision on how to finish it including using the marbling technique for the top they suggested in the article.
  25. Absolutely stunning Ron, most excellent!
