  1. I just checked. They still have the quarts. The pints are on back order until Mid April.
  2. I'm a Hawk fan. Mine is over 27 years old and still hums along just fine. That's more than I can say for my Excalibur.
  3. I bought a qt. from Klingspor's Woodworking Shop not long ago. https://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/VR06574/
  4. I believe it was about a week ago I posted some pictures on SSV of some "tropical dolphins" I had made with a blue background. I e-mailed some pics to various friends and family members also. Someone in my family asked me how I was able to paint that blue background. "You must have used a very tiny brush?"
  5. Sounds like fun and similar to a scavenger hunt we did many years ago.
  6. Welcome aboard Norm. I glue the painted backer on all the time. I typically use 1/16" Baltic Birch for a backer. Then I use "Aleene's Original Tacky Glue" to apply it and have never had a problem' Just use enough to hold the backer and try to eliminate too much squeeze out. I also use small spring clamps to get a nice tight fit. Good luck with your projects Ben
  7. I had a 2/0 blade backwards not long ago, and wondered why it didn't cut very good.
  8. Kevin So sorry to hear about having to put your cat down. We had a siamese for 19 1/2 years so i kindof know where your coming from. We also had 2 other cats that had to be put down because of illness. Those little pets just become part of the family and bring much joy. It's so sad when they are sick and we have to put them down. We have a dog now who is getting older and we fear it wont be long and we will have to do it again. He will be our last pet. We're too old to take on any new little kitties or puppies. Like you, I still have my scrollin' to keep me somewhat busy. Ben
  9. Very nice Joe
  10. I lived in Florida for 8 years in the new Port Richey area. I did enjoy my time there, but eventually moved back north. Those summer temps of 95 daily and rain every day, plus the 95 percent humidity finally did me in. They were just too brutal for me. However, I did enjoy the Gulf fishing for Grouper and Red Snapper. The winters were very nice too.
  11. Very nice. I like the backing.
  12. Nice job of cutting. I like it.
  13. Marg My picture taking is not the greatest. I have a quite old Canon. I should upgrade, but honestly I'm too cheap to spend the money for a new camera. I'd rather spend the money on wood. Haha I did changed the pic.. Seems to be much clearer. Ben
  14. You betcha
  15. Tropical Dolphins 1/2" Sapele, #2/0 Olson reverse tooth blade for interior cuts, #5 Olson PGT blade for perimeter, 4 coats of Deft satin lacquer, I used Rustoleum Oasis Blue spray paint for the backer. .
  16. Verry very nice. Excellent scrolling. Mahogany. I love working with it.
  17. Really cute. Very nice.
  18. As a Hawk owner for over 27 years and not one single issue, I'm going with the Hawk.
  19. That's the blade I use most of the time. I rip with it, and it does a great job. I have 2 of them. One is over 20 years old.
  20. Top quality. Great scroll work.
  21. Excellent. I like them a lot and so does my wife. Thanks, now she want's a pair. Like I don't already have umpteen items to make already.
  22. I agree with you about the USCG not being recognized as a US Military force. In fact we hardly ever got any recognition. I am a USCG veteran. I spent 4 years as a US Coast Guardsman. And am proud of my time served, No, we don't just patrol the coast. And we are not water cops. Read about the 6 major missions of the US Coast Guard. https://www.uscg.mil/About/Missions/ I'm going to make one of those for myself. Thanks for the video Semper Paratus- Always Ready PS: The figure saluting is a sailor, not a soldier. There are no soldiers in the Coast Guard.
  23. I too use a cane and sometimes a walker. I'm about 9 blocks from an ACE hardware. My problem is I can't stand for more than 3 or 4 minutes. (Atherosclerosis and COPD has really put the hurt on me.) Then I have to sit. No place to sit at ACE. I really can't go anywhere anymore. Dr. office. That's about it. I do about 95% of my woodworking, scrolling sitting down. My wife does help me carry stuff to my basement workshop. She helps whenever she can with various projects. But she is 70 and still works full time becuase she likes her job. Usually it's just me and my dog during the day. Ok, enough whining. Everyone has issues.
  24. I'm with you. I would like to buy more stuff for my workshop, But at 81 I probably wont get much use out of it. Besides, I have enough stuff to keep my kids happy for the rest of their lives and possible the grandkids too. Almost forgot. I also have 5 great grandkids. LOL I buy a few small items now and then, and a few plans, but mostly I buy wood.
  25. Ok, thanks Les. Unfortunately, I can no longer get around to actually go to Ace. I can only stumble around my house. Haha I'll just stick with my Dremel and maybe buy a 2nd one for routing. Thanks again Ben
