  1. Highly recommend it. I make 3" veneers 1 foot long at 5/128 ths and calipers show same from front to back all four corners
  2. This unit looks and works like new.. Before I purchased I called RBI...I was told unit is 23 years old lt has from what I understand the better Dayton dc motor..I have been playing with it and changing out the blades so when I finally use it for something I am more proficient ..I love the fact it is made in America for that alone I love it. And now I know the difference between this and the Wen I purchased...anyone want to buy a slightly used saw.
  3. Thanks ..but its kind of tight
  4. Thanks all. I have to finish up a few other projects, but from the little I toyed with th RBI.I can't wait to do something on it. I Liked making the chess pieces so I may try another compound cutting project or maybe A multidimensional one. I'll see how I feel at the time...Any suggestions.
  5. Hi ..I have been busy with a few other projects so haven't done much scroll sawing..But I ran across what I think was a good deal so I had to snap it up...came with 3 gross of blades and 5 extra blade holders ..picked up another saw also...
  6. Wishing Steve the best
  7. Damn ..I thought I was speaking to a God like scroll sawer.....Im sure you do great for yourself...I know the Wen is bottom of the barrel. I thought it worked just fine...But like they say "ignorance is bliss" maybe I should just stick with what I have. I think I probably need a bigger bandsaw anyway, I have a 9" Ryobi..looking at the 14/12 or 14BX Laguna s I want to be able to resaw wider boards...I will put scroll saw search on back burner..
  8. Hi all ..I am using a Wen 3922 scroll saw...Would I benefit from upgrading to a used RBI 220vs or 216VS. I see a lot of them between $120 and $250 .... I really would not want to spend more than that right now..Or should I just stick with the Wen for now. To be honest while my experiences with the Wen have been positive, it is my first scroll saw and I do not know the advantages of having a better quality scroll saw. For all I know the older RBI might be a step backwards. Thank You Anthony
  9. Amazingkevin...Thank you very much..
  10. Thank you ...Yes ..I made the board also...better picture of board...i trimmed it in brass
  11. Thanks..I found it surprisingly easier than I thought it would be...Tbe biggest pain is the sanding..I am sure you will do a great job...I find most people will be surprised at what they can do if they just try....good luck Ps..I just looked you up you are listed as a zen scroller.. lol..im sure you can handle this .I thought I was being inspirational
  12. Finally finished..used 2 coats minwax tung oil finish, 2 coats zinnister sanding sealer and 2 coats polycrylic..sanding between all coats...pretty happy with results ...but sanding is a pain in the a#@
  13. I PUT 2 coats of minwax tung oil finish wI plan to put the dewaxed shellac on in a week or 2..
  14. Am I wrong in thinking sealcoat can be a top coat. I read a couple different opinions
  15. On a test piece I applied minwax tungoil finish..and brushed on 2 coats zinnster dewaxed shellac.steel wooled between coats.looks pretty good..I think this is the what ill do ..I do not have the patience to attempt something else.
