I took a short break from the normal picture type projects and completed this at the request of my niece. This is a Steve Good pattern. I was wanting cedar planks but the only thing Lowe's had at the time was pine. They were very rough cut so I sanded them to knock off the rough edges and saturated them with Thompson water seal. The letters are cut with Pegas #3 MGT from 3/4 pine ply since they were going to be painted. The bell topper is cut from 3/4 pine and painted also. I also cut the bell topper with the #3 Pegas MGT. The Valentines topper is a Steve Good pattern I modified. It is cut from 1/4 pine ply using Pegas #1 MGT. To switch out the toppers, I placed a rare earth magnet in the top of the picket and attached a 1 X 1 metal plate on the back of each topper. I also have a gnome for New Years but it is drying after gluing. I have patterns for most other American holidays that should also work as toppers. Hope you like!

I agree with Jim. Cutting one of his patterns smaller than designed makes for some very tricky cuts. Great job.

Thanks Jim. I downloaded the stagecoach last night and tried printing it off. I usually open it in Inkscape and change the stroke to red but for some reason I couldn't get it to change. Also, I have a 11 X 17 printer and could only get it to print as 8 X 10. It was printing at original size and was able to print the pattern in sections. I feel certain the printer issue is me and my printer. Anyway, I think the stagecoach would be a great centerpiece for the Americana series. Thanks for the patterns. I'm sure I will eventually get to each and every one... if I live long enough!

Jim, I can find patterns 1 through 6 and also 15 of the Americana series. Am I missing some somewhere since the numbers jump from 6 to 15? I will probably end up doing all of the series. I'm working on a Steve Good project right now but don't think it will take very long. My only problem is the limited time I have to work on projects. I work second shift and because my shop isn't climate controlled, I only have Saturdays and Sundays to scroll. Of course that is after all the honey-dos have been completed. In the summer I mow about 6 acres because the snakes are bad in our area. At least with a cut lawn, I can see if one is slithering nearby. Also, because of the distance (40 miles) to my mother (89 y/o) I only get to see her on Sundays. I'll usually take her out to lunch, do any mending or repairs she may have, then head back home. Scrolling has become my sabbatical. It's a way for me to relax and have some "me" time.

This is my second from Jim Blume's Americana series and I plan to cut at least one more. Like the first which was a wagon wheel, this is cut from 1/4 Maple ply stained natural with multi coats of spray clear gloss sanded between each coat. The back is 1/4 Pine. The frame is cut from a 1X Pine board that I actually tried out my new router for the first time. The frame is stained with and antique oak. I'm posting two pics. One of the single finished project and another with both I have cut. I feel they complement each other.

Great job. It looks like you rounded over the edges and then gave the piece a light blush with a torch. Turned out great.

Welcome to the Village from SE North Carolina, Pop. I usually use craft lumber from my local Lowe's. I've gotten Birch, Maple and Red Oak. The first two are ply where the Oak is solid. These seem to fit my style of projects which are primarily hangers. Never tried Intarsia and the closest I've come to Pyrography is burning the fuzzies from my pieces. I've recently located a mill about 20 miles from me and learned they will sell planks Would like to get some of them to create some live edge projects. Anyway, glad you able to get back on the saw. Looking forward to seeing your work.

Tbow creates another masterpiece! Tim, I don't know where you get your wood but the grain in this piece is beautiful. I'm eager to see the finished piece to see how the grain emerges. The cutting is fantastic. There looks to be some very critical areas that wouldn't take much to break out. Wonderful job!

Can't really see where they need to be altered. Very unique design. Love the laces to finish it off. I can imagine them sitting in a day care for children to play with.
