Gonzo, we are grown men who spend to much money on over priced radios Radio Hams take tests to be qualified to transmit on various bands, mainly HF,VHF,UHF but there are others, we use voice, CW and data modes to do this. A lot of us make stuff to use in our hobbies including radios and antennas. There are so many different ways to participate in the hobby it would be impossible to list them all, we usually find a niche we enjoy and expand our knowledge from there.

Hey Dan that's good to hear. Yes I make it on my radio every day for some time at least. Pota was my thing this year, I activated 11 parks and had 35 total activations this summer. I will also get out for a short activation tomorrow as it's support you parks weekend. Call sign is N9CIW if you see me around !

I must admit I enjoy it! Apart from buying new equipment scroll saws are cheaper

Not scroll saw related but I thought I'd share. Just finished up this project. I'm a radio amateur, general class and nowdays you don't have to learn Morse code to obtain your licence. That said I've been procrastinating for the past few years that I was going to learn. To help me along I've just finished soldering up and assembling this little Morse trainer. It comes as a kit, circuit board components and hardware .

I think we all get "high centered" at times, I have a few hobbies and rotate them, when the weather here starts getting bad it's scroll saw time till the sun comes back !

FrankEV sorry here are some more details This one was cut on reclaimed maple planed down to about 7/16", the panel is about 8x12 but will be cut down some. There's no backer and I'm not sure yet if there will be. I'm planning to stain it.

Thanks Dick that's very nice of you to say, it's you and many others that inspire me !

Thanks Sycamore67! It's a Newer Steve Good pattern.

Jerry, I'm pretty new at this and I totally agree with you with the amount of talent on show here. It's a double edged sword always encouraging me to try to raise my standards. Don't take my complaints the wrong way, I really am enjoying my scrollsaw journey, but like anything else practice is required. I'm making silly mistakes and need to slow down and work on my accuracy.

Rafairchild2, thanks! That's my plan actually I've only got a few pieces of this 1/4 BB left and next time I'll try and find some better quality stuff. I've got some hardwood in the garage that needs planing up but I've yet to get round to it

Steve good Christmas tree. Back to basics trying to improve my basic skills, straight lines, smooth curves, sharp points and stuff like that. I've been cutting a lot of fretwork stuff and it's easier to hide your mistakes in the abstract arrangement of holes. I've had a lot of people asking me for Christmas stuff (including her who must be obeyed ) so I'm going to take the opportunity to try to improve this part of my skillset. I'm not happy with this cut but it will paint up ok....practice practice practice

As the title says another fun H Botas pattern, I may try to color this one too. My wife is a RN so I thought it was fitting. A fun cut.
