    Hi

Hi Ron, Another welcome...!!! I think it is time you re-cut the Christmas scene you did for your Mother. And then... and then... "post it for us to see." Larry (From New York ) Oh, and thank you for the compiment on my Stage Coach. When I get my mini, mini horses, you are invited for a ride in it.
  3. Hi Edward, thanks for your comments. I would have put everything at eye level or even on the table, but it was already over crowded. I'm building a couple more panels that I can hang work from. Maybe that will help next time. But your comment is well taken. Larry
  4. Hello Roy, Welcome! I can tell you that " You gab about scroll work at the ' Forum ' and you chat about 'stuff' in the 'Room'. You do a very nice job on those portraits. Larry
  5. I took stuff to a flea market once and the seller next to me said, " It ain't the first of the month, they don't have any money to spend. " What I'm saying is there are many reasons why crafters may have a bad day at a show. * Location, where it is held; * How and if it was advertised * Reputation, maybe * Competition from other events on that day, possibly * etc,etc This area has an affluent side of the river and a 'less' prosperous side. And one of my favorite saying, " Any excuse is better than none. " On Saturday December 7th (Pearl Harbor Day), I get another go at it. Actually and in truth, I don't care that I didn't get rich. My craft scroll cuts from " ALL YOUR PATTERNS " are very good. Enough said.. Larry
  6. Ralph, I believe you solved how I reduce the number of runs I get. I was applying the lacquer in temp below 55 degrees. Thank you all and I'll add fiber too. Larry
  7. Big flop. Had lookers, compliments and some good conversation. Very little sales. The highlite for me was chatting with a 90 year old Marine Veteran. He enlisted the day after Pearl Harbor attack. I guess that made it worth while.
  8. Well, lol, I'm going with Bill and Grampa's remedy's. Thanks for the laughs...... Larry
  9. I like your step description. That is good. It takes patience, huh? I admire any one that "completes" this gear clock. And this is supposedly an easy one... It brings back memories on the one ' I have not finished ' IMHO, it takes all the right tools, the right wood, and access to other supplies. And a lot of grit. Like BB's and lead weight, a pot to melt the lead and a mold to shape it. I have the gears made and meshed together. I have not been able to make the pendulum right, nor get the weights right. I shelved it, claiming I will finish it later. Larry
  10. Saturday 11/16 I'll be at the Endwell Fire Department's (Endwell, NY- USA) Craft Show. It is held from 10 am until 03:00 pm and it only cost $15 for a spot with a table. I asked did they have any other crafters that did scroll work. The lady said I was the only one and then asked, " what is scroll work?" I don't know if that is good or not.. but I think it is. I've only 'shown' in two craft shows ever, both last year. First one was at a school, second one was at a town park. Now this one is at a fire department. Oh, and they hold this one twice a year (Spring and Fall). I'm late at doing things. Schools hold "Fall or Holiday festivals" for fund raisers but I tried to get in too late for most of them. I did make one on Dec 7th. Gee mo... the cost for this one is $35 and they ask for a raffle donation. So I may get to four craft shows this year... I enjoy showing my scroll work.. I'll take pictures Larry
  11. Very nice, thats a display item.
  12. Well, it looks like to me you have a backer glued on and it is painted red and black. Whatever or however you cut it, it is nice. I get 'heartburn' thinking about scrolling with spiral blades. A little jitters and I'm off in the wrong direction.
  13. Well jist git to it. I wanna see that pattern box start empting, hear that scroll saw, see saw dust on the floor. Yea, I took a couple months break and now I don't want to leave the shop. Go man go Larry
  14. Well, I'm impressed ! It looks delicate, Can I touch it? Larry
  15. When you put on lacquer, poly finish and notice runs after it dries, how do you correct it? All I really know to do is sand it down if I can.
  16. Those are all nice. I enjoy cutting car patterns and you did a great job on the Ford. And thanks for providing the extra information on the patterns.
  17. Hey Marg, Sorry, I thought about no Wally World in Australia after I posted. Now there is a business oportunity though. (maybe) I know Australia is B-I-G , but here is a shot-in-the-dark... http://www.crockerspaint.com.au/products-aerosol.html
  18. 50/50 BLO is 1/2 & 1/2 Boiled Linseed oil and mineral spirits -- be my definition Wal Mart should have lots of Krylon... at least the one I am near does..
  19. OK, you convinced me. I'll go with 'dipping'. Thank you all for your help. Larry
  20. Very good on the stand and the cuts. One thing about scroll sawing, is you are always practicing. No two cuts are the same..
  21. So behind those binocular glasses lies some really great talent. And good work and ideas. Impressive.
  22. That is very nice ! Would you call it a 'Poplar Scrap' box?
  23. Very innovative. You got talent !
  24. The toys are almost as cute as your kids. Nice job
  25. Norman, You sound interesting. I suspect you can instruct a little on some things. Just out of curosity, do you create your own patterns?
