  1. Great job!
  2. Excellent!
  3. I use 3M clear packing tape on the wood, then spray Elmer Craft Bond spray glue on the tape and the back of the pattern. I don't use Duck brand packing tape, the adhesive comes off the tape on to the wood to much. I made a shallow square box and stapled 1/4" hardware cloth on it to spray glue on the patterns.

I was looking on Pintrest for Tree of Life just killing time and found it and several other patterns I found in the past. I had to modify it a little but it was easy to do.

Thanks everyone. My brother is the one who told me about the 321. It is 3 parts mineral spirit, 2 parts polyurethane and one part Boiled linseed oil. It dries really fast and I found using satin finish wasn't what I wanted in the end so I switched to semi gloss and it comes out pretty nice. I have read articles on sanding the first coat in to the wood but I don't know if it would do anything for it. I've never tried it. I use a second coat right after the first one soaks in and wiping away the excess. I never make more than 3 oz. of mineral spirit, two oz. of poly and one oz. of BLO I'll never use it fast enough. I always use rubber gloves too, wiping it on with a cloth or using a brush.
  10. I did this one from a piece of cherry my brother gave me. I'm gonna give it to him for Christmas. I showed him a little at Thanksgiving on my scroll saw, he's bought a used saw and gonna give it a try. If I counted right there is 120 cuts on the outside and 54 on the inside. Total time was probably 4 hours. I finished it with 321. It's about 3/8" thick and I cut it with a # 1 FD. Thanks for looking.

  17. WOW! Excellent work
  18. I didn’t think about that. Good idea.
  19. Thanks for the input. They Look good I just hope it doesn’t get so dark that it would look really bad. I only have them on the wall in the garage but some are pretty old.
  20. As Baltic birch portraits get older, I notice the wood seems to be turning yellow. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I put some kind of finish on them when I get them done? Maybe a flat poly spray? They don't look really bad I was just curious.
  21. I use a mask and I love the smell of that wood. I made a small jewelry box with it.
  22. Thanks everyone. I’ll work with Masonite and give it a try. I just find myself tipping my work up going off the edge.
  23. Has anyone come up with an idea to extend the front of the table further out? It needs to be 2-3 inches longer. Is there a “ home made “ way to do it?
