David Hall Posted April 16, 2015 Report Posted April 16, 2015 Any of you pattern making Ninjas see any floaters or glaring issues that I should fix before attempting to cut this? Travis 1 Quote
DonR Posted April 16, 2015 Report Posted April 16, 2015 I only see one floater, his right eye. However there are many very fragile ares which I would make a little more substantial and add a few bridges. Nice pattern though!! Don R Quote

David Hall Posted April 16, 2015 Author Report Posted April 16, 2015 What did you use to smooth out the lines? I did this in Photoshop. Quote

David Hall Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Started cutting this yesterday. A few observations from a scrolling rookie. 1. A pic that looks cool in Photoshop does not always make a good scroll saw pattern. I ended up not cutting some of the detail because it was tedious and it didn't really enhance the final product all that much, more is not always better. 2. Look at the pic and think about what should be cut first. I got about 1/4 through it then started to rough out each area before going back and cutting the details. Probably would have been a little easier on myself had I planned what section got cut before the next particularly with some of the more fragile areas. 3. Scrolling is fun as hell. lol Travis 1 Quote

LarryEA Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Like Don said...that way you have not wasted time cutting other areas if something goes awry. Quote
David Hall Posted April 26, 2015 Author Report Posted April 26, 2015 I finally got the time to cut this pattern. Attached is the result. You pros make this look easier than it really is. Pretty pleased with my first project. Travis, ChelCass, DonR and 1 other 4 Quote
Scrappile Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 (edited) David I think you have every right to be very proud. All black makes for a hard pattern and scrolling. You did it all very well. Edited April 26, 2015 by Scrappile Quote
bobscroll Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Hi David, You did a really good job on scrolling out the pattern you did! Thanks for showing, Bob Quote
