I've had this saw for about a month. Generally satisfied with its performance. Not satisfied with the top blade holder that required the Allen wrench so I removed the Allen bolt and found I could use a bolt with a knob that I had laying around the shop. Now undoing the top holder to move the blade to a new hole is a snap. The only problem is that the upper arm is mounted inside a plastic housing that holds the blade guard and blower assembly. Within a few days there were stress fractures in the plastic. This doesn't affect the performance of the saw although it does cause the housing to vibrate so I removed the blade guard which I prefer not to use anyway.
  2.  Lost my wife to  cancer last September. Haven’t got around to doing any projects since then except for two name plaques. Guess it’s time to start again.

  3. Decided to try tilting the table to make a sign for my son. Instead of raised letters I recessed them as it seemed appropriate for the name.
  4. Great idea! I've been using my hand all this time!
  5. Owner's manual thst Larry posted shows it taking pinned and plain blades!
  6. This is where I get mine. Plenty of exotic wood remnants and BB plywood. http://www.metrohardwoodsinc.com
  7. You can expect a long "honey-do" list after this! Nice work.
  8. A big howdy from your neighbor in Independence! Welcome to the forum. Been here about a year now and learned a lot from these guys-n-gals. Be sure to share some pics of your work so we can heap praise on you. Larry
  9. If y'all haven't visited her website you're missing out! Talk about well equipped. Copy this link and paste it in your browser to see it. www.yvje.nl
  10. Love all the dogs you have done on your Facebook page!
  11. Welcome fellow craftsman owner from Kansas City (Independence).
  12. Love it! Is the pattern available? Looking for a supplier of the sample pack in the U.S. But haven't found one yet.
  13. Beautiful work scrollerpete! BTW, we lived in Arizona for 52 years. Still warm there this time of year, especially compared to Canada.
  14. Depends on what kind of scrolling you want to do. For finer cuts you may want the pinless blades which the upgrade would allow. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/scu_bladechange.htm
  15. If the shoe fits...
  16. Ike, we all would like to see you dance 20 minuets! lol. Or a waltz would do.
  17. Good question. Reminds me of this joke: A: Doctor, will I be able to play the piano after the operation? B: Yes, of course. A: Great! I never could before!
  18. Thanx for the tip. Got the pattern just now. Also planning on a hummingbird plaque.
  19. Finally got brave enough to try Steve Good's eagle in walnut.
  20. This kit allows older Craftsmans to use the newer pinless blades bur the new model already allows that! i don't think the adaptor addressed the tension. I still think I have more control of the tension by using the knob on the rear. I even adjust it while cutting sometimes.
  21. Joe, I have the same saw. I don't have a problem reaching back to loosen/tighten the tension. I did not like using the tee handle to undo/redo the upper blade fastener so I replaced the set screw with a knob. Here is a post about changing it. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/13524-blade-wobble-craftsman/ I can change to a new hole in a project including reducing tension, undoing top blade clamp, putting blade through the next hole, redoing the blade clamp, and tightening the tension all in a matter of seconds. Since I'm only a hobbyist I don't see the need to spend $$$ to get a quick release tension clamp. I'll leave thst to the pros. BTW you'll have to scroll down through the post to see the fix.
  22. Welcome Ron. I too have a craftsman 16" and have been scrolling as a hobby for about a year. Show us some of your work when you get time.
  23. Welcome Ward. We lived in Phoenix for 52 years. Took up scrolling about a year ago. I think you click on "More Reply Options" then "choose file" and finally "attach file" in order to add a pic. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see some of your work. Be sure to share some of your whittling and carving under Other Woodworks!
  24. Made these for my wife for her birthday today. "Hope" she likes 'em. BTW, thanks Steve Good.
  25. Fabulous! Here's someone looking for a home!
