FYI

ORIGIN OF THE WORD "CORNY"

At the beginning of the 20th century, seeds companies in America started sending out catalogues to the farmers to advertise their goods. To spice up the catalogues, they would sprinkle jokes and cartoons throughout the pages. The jokes on the pages were of low quality, and the catalogues started to be known as "corn catalogue jokes", which was then shortened to "corny", and eventually applied to all humour considered embarrassingly unsophisticated.

Of course I disagree that they are unsophisticated! Puns have a long history in human writing. Sumerian cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphs were originally based on punning systems, and the Roman playwright Plautus was famous for his puns and word games. This one is for him:

I did a theatrical performance about puns. It was a play on words.

Ok, I'm done.

Hmm, guess you'll have to copy and paste to see this since it didn't hotlink.

Thank you Lorenzo. A long tome since I heard "That's All Folks", apart from when my wife said it after our second child was born.
