I don't do many scroll saw projects that stand on their own but usually incorporate them other work. Here is one I recently finished using it as a base for a pine needle basket. Now that I live in AZ I buy pine needles from Florida! The ones here are about 4" long and would not work.

Earl, you made this from scratch? Wow, you did one heck of a job, I can't imagine trying to work with pine needles. Do you use green needles, or do you allow them to dry a bit before using them? I've cut out this hummer before, but, not for anything like this. It's really one to be proud of.

Len, I have been making pine needle baskets for about 15 years. I used to sell them in a gallery but now sell at a couple shows near Christmas time. You can't use green needles because when they dry they will shrink and make a loose basket. Generally use them dry unless I need to do a sharp corner or tight turn, then I will dampen them so they won't break. That wasn't the case here.

I could not imagine using the pine needles that I see regularly, any chance of putting a photo up of the ones you use so that I can see the difference please.

Very nice!
I wanted to learn to do that with porcupine quills like some Native Americans did but,

had very little success.

Just goes to show you can make anything out of something if you know what you are doing. That is beautiful, what a great craft idea.  Pine needles, super.  Thanks a bunch for showing this to us.  From the interest in it it looks like you will be doing a tutorial soon or at least we hope you will share your knowledge with us.  Thanks for showing this wonderful art to us.
