Jim Finn Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) Still figuring out exactly what is needed, but this is one idea. I am making a few different items for consideration by a customer for five hundred Christmas gifts for a large organization, to give out to donors, I think. About five inches tall. Painted star and stained cedar. Hope this works out. It is a work in progress but just in the planning stage so far. If this works out it will keep me busy throughout the summer I bet. Dave Monk Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Sure hope it works out. You will be sick of Texas by the time it is over. dave Jim Finn 1 Quote
LarryEA Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 That's a BIG order but I hear everything in Texas is big. Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
jerry1939 Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Jim, Looks great, but just one suggestion Friend. You should have picked a smaller State. Rhode Island ??? jerry Quote
Jim Finn Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 Rhode Island? isn't that just a county? Haha. Her budget is OK if done like this one. Quote

Laura Bush Org..jpg I like the lone star state emblem ,but the leaning star state not so much,it is what it is! Glad you got work ,looks great! Quote
Jim McDonald Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 I did about 25 West Virginia fridge magnets last year and was just about bonkers when I got done. I can imagine what you are getting ready to do. Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Now this is where a laser cutter would come in handy Jim. Roly Quote
breadstick Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 On one hand I would love to get an order like this. 500 at ~ $25 each is more math than I want to do. On the other hand, I might just go out of my mind doing that many of one thing. Quote
Jim Finn Posted May 3, 2016 Author Report Posted May 3, 2016 Still nogatating this . Her budget is not $25 each but $5 each. I can do them for that. Here are others I have made for her consideration. Dave Monk 1 Quote
Clayton717 Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 wow that is a big order. Hope it works out for you. Quote
Chachi111769 Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I love the work but I'm sorry being from Texas I must correct you on the star it is always white and dead center of the state unless she was wanting it to be the area where she lives... lol Quote
Jim Finn Posted May 5, 2016 Author Report Posted May 5, 2016 The star is red because that is part of the logo of the organisation it is made for. I am not sure why the shape of Texas is desired for this. Quote
breadstick Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 Is the one on the bottom right plywood? If so, what finish did you use? Quote
Jim Finn Posted May 5, 2016 Author Report Posted May 5, 2016 Yes the brown ones are stained baltic birch 1/2" Quote
cseymour Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 They look great Jim, Good luck with the order Quote
orangeman Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 A native Texas wood would be perfect; maybe mesquite or pecan? Also, you could put the nine banded armadillo on the state outline. Quote
Jim Finn Posted June 12, 2016 Author Report Posted June 12, 2016 I still have not heard form them since I submitted these prototypes. I am thinking this order will never be completed. I told them I need two months to make them. Although, I could do it in three weeks I think. Waiting ..... Quote
Iguanadon Posted June 15, 2016 Report Posted June 15, 2016 Very nice Jim, I hope you hear back soon with an order. I created something for my home state and went the easy route of wood burning a heart for the tourists (and possibly residents) to remember their visit to Carolina Beach. I didn't display any last week, my first week at a summer farmers market, but I will be this Saturday and will see if folks like them. http://content.screencast.com/users/Iguanadon/folders/Jing/media/80e3a6c8-3e0c-4273-abf8-fdfba3764a1c/2016-04-16_1519.png Quote
orangeman Posted June 15, 2016 Report Posted June 15, 2016 There should be a shark instead of a heart in the NC puzzle - lol Quote
