meflick Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 A day worthy of remembering all the fallen heroes and the aftermath. I have not been to Hawaii or Pearl Harbor yet but like many, it is on my bucket list. I appreciate and thank all who have served our country before, then, after and now. Quote
Jim McDonald Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Going to try to get there this coming summer. My Dad was docked in HI for a while during Korea and loved it in Pearl. He talked about trying to get back, but never did. I want to go pay my respects to the 2,000+ KIA that day. Quote
ike Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 I have been there 5 different times and was stationed at Barbers Point for 6 month waiting for my clearance to come thru, This was in 1961 It was a island paradise then. I would probably be disappointed in it now.. but I would like to go to the Arazona monument. I saw the ship before that was added very emotional experience. Oil was still leaking from it at that time. IKE. Lucky2 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 Don, date and year was all you had to supply, I don't think very many people wouldn't know what you were talking about. I've never been there, but, like many others, it is on my bucket list. I'm not American, but, I am interested in war history. Len Quote
dgman Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 I have been there.must have been 35 years ago. You could still see oil coming up from the Arizona. Quote
Lucky2 Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 I'm not 100% sure, but, I think oil is still leaking from the ship. Don't laugh, but it was mentioned on Hawaii Five-O, it was a resent show and it showed oil leaking. Len Quote
wombatie Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 I have never been there and I know movies are not the same but when I saw Pearl Harbor years ago I cried through the bombing scene, they didn't stand a chance. RIP Marg Quote

dansnow Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 I would love to visit the Memorial to pay my respects, just not sure if it will happen. I do fly my American Flag 24/7 (solar powered light for night time) to honor all who have/are/will serve to protect us and our freedoms. Quote
