Kevin - first, if the meds are not helping with the pain and are making you that loopy that you cannot function properly then you MUST stop the meds.  Go back to the doctors and tell them they aren't working and they are making you not be able to function.  It is not safe for you or those around you if you are having those types of issues caused by the meds. Do not work any of your machines/saws in that condition either!  The Drs don't know what you don't tell them.  Some meds have different effects on different people.  Be safe and see the Doctors again.

Kevin, I think you need to take a break from everything, Do you have a friend that you could visit for a week or so as to get away from your present environment. I am afraid that if you don't you will either have a serious accident or a breakdown. Take Melanie's advice and sit down with your doctor to go over your medications and medical problems.you have been working overtime. Life is precious, do not throw it away.

Kevin buddy, if you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of you customers. You have to put yourself, and your health, first. As mentioned, if meds aren't working go back to the doc.

Kevin:

If you have been seeing multiple doctors, or going to multiple pharmacies, there is a chance some of your meds may be interacting.  Get everything gathered up and take them with you to a clinic and get an medicine evaluation--ASAP.

There is a very good chance you me overmedicated and with all the trips to the ER you have made lately, I would bet there has been different doctors almost every time and they may not have read your chart fully to see what the last doc or docs prescribed.

Like others have said--put down the tools until you get to get to feeling better.  Meds and power tools are how you get the nickname "Stubby".

I agree with the advice.  You need to find a good pain management doctor.

THERE IS NO REASON YOU SHOULD BE DRIVING AND PUTTING OTHERS IN DANGER.  STOP!!!!!!   If a policeman stops you, your problems will be much worse.

Like many others I suffer from chronic back pain and arthritis.  My pain management doctor is great and has helped.  However, the best that the the doctor will do is to reduce the pain.  You really need a good doctor who understands you.

Hi Kevin.   I'm really sorry to hear what's happening.  I understand that you are venting to your friends on SSV, but the real person who needs to hear these things is your doctor.  You really need to talk to your doctor.  They are there for you and will take care of you.  Not all medications work the same way on people.  So if it's not working, or causing other side effect, the doctor has a whole slew of other options.  And if your doctor can't figure it out, they have a team that will help.  If you're not comfortable with your current doctor, get another one.  You're not going to hurt their feelings and they'll be happy to give you a referral.

If you are at any moment not completely focused and alert, please don't use power tools.  Especially bandsaws and tablesaws.  They'll ruin your day for sure.  And please don't drive!  That puts other people and families in danger too.  You have much too big of a heart to hurt anyone, so please don't do it.  There are groups that will pick you up for doctor appointments and other services for those who cannot drive.

Get yourself taken care of.  We all care for you and want you to get back into the shop.  But the first step is to get your health on the right track.

I wish I could offer a solution, but other than what other have suggested I've got nothing. Although it certainly sounds like your meds are having a adverse reaction and you need to seek professional medical help. I have no idea what health care is like in the Sunshine State or what your plan(s) offer  Remember to breath and get well.

the doctors have one hand on the door knob and can't wait to get rid of you so the more they see the more $$$ in there pocket their estimated customers in a 8 hour day minus 2 hour lunch is 80 to 90 people.Who has time to listen at that rate been there done that to many times, smell the coffee!

The bashing of doctors is not fair or right.  Not all doctors are the same or all people the same.

I have no idea what insurance you are on or the group of doctors you can see.  I am on Medicare and have found good doctors.  I think you need to find a pain management doctor based on your many posts. It sounds like you have multiple issues and it will take a doctor some time and trials to find the best solution.  People with chronic pain should not expect to find a doctor that will get rid of all pain.  The best will be to reduce it to a better level. How do I know this?  Because I have pretty severe chronic pain.

The other thing is emotional and getting all worked and mad will only serve to make you feel worse.

Keep talking to them.  If they won't listen, find another doctor.  Stay persistent.  It sounds a little dramatic, but it really is a case of life and death.  There's a all kinds of things a doctor can do.  The trick is finding the right combination.  Doing that may take a little trial and error.  And if don't get your feedback, they're going to assume that it's working.  This is a partnership.  And as a partnership, each of you have a role to play.

Kevin, STOP running from Dr. to Dr., pick one and stick with that one. If that Dr. doesn't seem to be listening to you, then tell them that you don't think that they have heard you. Keep insisting that they haven't helped, and that you need them to try something different. By doing this, you get someone who will knows what your issues are, not someone who doesn't know anything about you. Don't walk away to sulk and whine about the service you got, stand your ground until you get better. service. You can't expect to get top notch service, if you don't stick with one main Dr. Personally, I have five different Drs. looking after me and my issues, but, I have only one DR. that issues all my meds and other items related to feeling better. By having only one main DR. who knows everything about me, I feel as if I'm getting better service because he knows all of my meds and issues. The other Drs. are all specialists, and I always ask them to get my family Dr. to prescribe any new prescription that they think I should try. That way there is no confusion, all of my med prescriptions are written by one Dr. There's advantages to doing things this way, by doing it like I do, you won't get labelled as a drug hog, someone who is always looking for drugs. Plus, you have one person who gets to know all of your issues, which will end up getting you better medical services. Find one Dr and stick with that Dr, that's the only way you're going to get better.
