Ryobi sc162vs question: Plain end blades

So I bought the saw on craigslist that was advertised for SC163VS and after getting it home last night, I learnt it is a very old SC162vs, rusty. I bought it for $55. Not sure this was a good buy atall.

I am unable to find any manual for it online. Does anyone know if this accepts plain end blades?

I think this is the same saw that I had years ago.. and I come across this doing a simple search of the make and model added manual to the end of the search.. If I remember correctly.. I do think it will take plain end blades.. but don't quote me on that.. I only had mine a very short time back around 2005.. I owned it for a whole 3 weeks... wasn't a bad saw either.. I just had my wheel and deal hat on back then.. LOL

by the looks of the parts diagram, it uses pin end blades.

Can you take a picture of the top blade holder and post it? I would think it would. I had a Ryobi scroll saw that was 35 years old and it took pin less blades. There should be a Allen screw on the right side as you face the saw. They are not fun to put in but it did take them.

Just google your Ryobi. I found the owners manual on line and it says it will use either pin or plain end blades. It includes a complete manual and parts list.

New Scroll Saw user here, I used an old SC165VS and it CAN use plain blades but you need to add a fine screw to the top to pinch the blade into place (and that was not included in my friend's scroll saw -- We had to buy and modify)

I am! I just bought one off marketplace and looking for pin / pin-less answers… this thread helped me confirm mine does not include the screws for pin-less. I found the diagram and parts list but the manual still eluded me until now.
