Ok, I've bought myself a new (to me) Axminster Trade Series AWFS18 Scroll Saw.

With my little scrollsaw that I use now, I buy Olson blades and have always been happy with them.  However, I have absolutely no idea what kind of blade to buy for my new acquisition .  I've only ever used Pin End blades before and have Zero knowledge about Pinless machines.

Any advise would be gratefully received.  I don't pick my new toy up until next Weds as I'm up to my ears this coming Bank Holiday with Judging and Competing commitments.

I'm so excited I'm like a kid having to wait till Christmas  🤩

Olson, Flying Dutchman (niqua) or Pegas are all good blades. The general rules for pinned blades hold true for pinless blades. Thick wood use larger blades Low detail larger blades Thin wood or high detail use smaller blades. I use reverse tooth blades for most everything. Sizes from 2/0 to 9.  I also like the modified geometry blades from Pegas. Spiral blades I prefer the flat end due to less slipping. Realize that most all flat blades will have some oil on them and MAY have to be cleaned off I use a piece of 400 grit sandpaper on both ends of all my flat blades just in case. Check out the catalogs for the different makers the info there will help.

Niqua blades are available mail order from several UK suppliers . When I first started scrolling I had some of every size of blade but now I've come down to 3. Sizes 2/0, 3 and 5 all Niqua and with reverse teeth.

Thank you, I will order those this week. Appreciate your help

I use Flying Dutchman (Niqua) but the Ultra Reverse.  Have tried others but always come back to the UR.  Use mainly #1 and 3.

Nice part of the Ultra Reverse there is a notch in top to tell which end is up.

Same here. I have tried the Pegas MG blades. They are good, but for me, not good enough to change over. Still have several dozen laying around that I don’t use.
