amazingkevin Posted November 15, 2018 Report Posted November 15, 2018 Being disabled more after helping my friend move and in more pain, than I care to live with I needed some relief. I wanted to go to the hospital but they just laugh at you.THEN there's alcohol which I can't afford, and my pain pills lock you up the next day were out of the question. Being a packrat I tend to have what I need. But after so many moves and downsizing I forget what I still have. Ok, long story cut short I remembered my tens units! Yes, that saved me and I feel fine as long as the 3-year-old battery's holdout. What a blessing to have this machine and it fits in your pocket! There very inexpensive now, like under $40.00 WayneMahler, meflick and 3Dface 2 1 Quote

meflick Posted November 15, 2018 Report Posted November 15, 2018 Kevin, you gotta learn to tell friends that your back won't let you help them move. If you can't do that, only do light stuff. You only get one back, and if you are already have issues with it - you gotta learn to just say sorry, no. I know, I had my first cervical fusion when i was 18. Then I had a second one due to the wear and tear caused by the first one. I dealt with the pain for a long time until they told me i really needed to have the 2nd one done. I have learned, its okay to say sorry no, I can't do that or insist that my husband or my kids do the "heavy" lifting even though sometimes my kids don't seem to get why I needed them to do it. I have a tens unit, I agree they can be a great help. Glad you remembered and found yours. Prayers said for a quick mend. amazingkevin and 3Dface 2 Quote

jamminjack Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 Hey Kevin, sorry to hear you are going through this. Believe me when I say I can relate to your problem. As many have stated in this post you just have to know when to say no when someone asks for help. You better than anyone else knows your limitations. We all know what a good-hearted person you are, and saying no is ever so hard. But my friend sometimes as hard as it is to say, "Sorry but I really can't help at this time" is the better thing to do. People will understand. Get well my friend. Jack Quote
Sycamore67 Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 One can be their own worst enemy....you have to decide what price you will pay to be able to do things. I have severe chronic back pain but just got a new computer. I have a spinal cord stimulator implanted in my back and spine. I just got an upgrade and works better. The device helps block pain impulses in your spinal cord. It makes the pain more manageable. Of course, if I do too much, I pay the price and have no one to blame except myself. Quote
munzieb Posted November 17, 2018 Report Posted November 17, 2018 Kevin the difference between no and now is the "W" "W"hy are they asking and "W"ill it hurt more and "W"hy you have to say NO and "W"ill they understand. Sometimes you can't do it though you "w"ant to. amazingkevin 1 Quote
