Foxfold Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) I did this today as a gift for my friend of 40yrs + for her birthday. Is it ok? or should I get her a bottle of perfume Also, a question for all you more 'experienced than me' people. Do you think I should 'widen' some of the lines on the first cat? I'm not sure that it wouldn't look a little better if the lines were a little wider around the nose, mouth and cheek.. I hated doing this pattern almost as much as the pattern hated me !! This is my 4th attempt at it and I went so slowly that I'm pretty sure that most of you would raise an eyebrow in bafflement. However, it was the only way I could actually do it. It drove me mad !! Don't know why, it looked straight forward enough on paper but I just found it so difficult to cut. Edited June 7, 2019 by Foxfold RabidAlien, don watson, Falcon and 6 others 9 Quote
Falcon Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 I think it is great! Leave the first cat alone makes each of them unique. RabidAlien and Foxfold 1 1 Quote

savethebeer Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 Brenda.I like the pattern and I like the way you've cut it. I would definitely leave it alone. What way will you finish it off, put it in a frame or attach hooks to the back. Bob Quote
savethebeer Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 Just re read your post title, Don't waste the bottle. Have it yourself as a present to yourself, for getting it done on 4th attempt and handed off to your friend. She needn't know how much pain it caused you. bob RabidAlien, barb.j.enders and Foxfold 2 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 If you make the perfume and give it. If you can't make the perfume give your cutting. I'm sure the kitties will be more appreciated! Foxfold 1 Quote
Charlie E Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 Looks great to me. I don't think the lines look too small at all. Foxfold 1 Quote

With the backer glued on it would be ½" thick. Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 Leave it alone.....Great just the way it is !.....Nice gift ! Foxfold 1 Quote
JimErn Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 Leave it be like everyone else has said, it looks great Sometimes a pattern will get me wrapped around the axle too, no rhyme or reason for it that I can tell. Murphy may have been looking over your shoulder at the time, and if so be glad that is all that happened, Foxfold 1 Quote
daveww1 Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 very nice job, don't change a thing Foxfold 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 Don't over think it - it looks great|! We are always our own worst critic which is too bad. Foxfold 1 Quote
Gordster Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 It looks great Brenda she is going to love it and treasure it.... Foxfold 1 Quote
wombatie Posted June 9, 2019 Report Posted June 9, 2019 Leave it alone, do not touch it. Your friend will love it. Stop being so critical of yourself, it does not matter if it took you an hour or 100 hours, you do what is right for you. We have all had a pattern that we thought looked ok until we went to cut it and half way through screamed WHY, but that is how we learn. Love it. Marg Foxfold 1 Quote

And the perfume will run out but the picture lasts. This last thought brought to my attention as to what makes a pattern hard to cut. This one I'd have to say it's Hypnotic! Very well cut, felines!!! rdatelle Posted June 11, 2019 Report Posted June 11, 2019 Brenda, I think the first cat is fine the way it is. His face is facing away from the other cat so the lines should be a little finer. You did a great job. I wound frame it if you can. Quote
