Dave, I have never purchased from that place, but have wanted to. I plan to visit them sometime when I am at my daughter's. Not far from where she lives. Quote
planeur Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 What about this wood : amaranth wood which look like a sky with a storm coming... ! I used that wood for my Blue heron . Beautiful wood. planeur Dave Monk 1 Quote

I have ordered from there and am happy with both the service and the wood. It's a very greyish blue but works well for sky. Dave Monk 1 Quote
tgiro Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 I get my blue pine from The Happy Woodsman. Give them a call. If you go through their online order system, you'll have to call them - or they'll call you, for payment. I'v had real good results with their wood. If you pick out a piece online, then that's the one you're going to get. Good folks to deal with. There a lot of shades of "Blue" pine - mostly gray. It's also sold as Beetle-killed Pine through some other vendors. If you want real blue - you're going to stain or dye. I use analine dyes. They have a "Sky Blue". Dave Monk and Badgerboy 1 1 Quote

meflick Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 I too would suggest Blue Pinr. I too have ordered from The Handsome woodsman site on several occasions and always got good service and product. Dave Monk 1 Quote

I am only working on it about two days a week because I have four shows in the next two months I am trying to get ready for. Intarsia is a whole new thing for me and it shows. Hopefully some day I will be as good as several others on this site. Edited March 6, 2020 by Dave Monk meflick, Karl S, JimErn and 2 others 5 Quote
