I've used it in the past without any problems, but now it won't hold a small (less than 1/16th) dill bit straight. It will hold larger bits straight but not the small ones. THEY ARE LIKE OT;HER TOOLS THEY WEAR OUT, UNLESS IT HAS COLETS ITN IT , OTHER WISE JUST BUY A NEW ONE. i HAVE USED THEM FOR YEARS IN THE MACHINE SHOP AND THEY DO WEAR OUT. NC Scroller Posted September 12, 2020 Report Share Posted September 12, 2020 I put a Jacob's Chuck in my drill press. I believe it is a #32. It is a key type chuck. ike Posted September 13, 2020 Report Share Posted September 13, 2020 I use the pin vice to clear out the small holes when the pattern doesn't allow the blade to go thru. Wichman Posted September 14, 2020 Author Report Share Posted September 14, 2020 It appears that the plate that the threaded rod goes through to tighten the chuck jaws is damaged, I have ordered a new pin vise from Amazon. One of the best little tools around for drilling tiny holes up to 1/8" and a multitude of other things like sanding, shaping, cutting etc. The accessories for it are endless. John B Posted September 14, 2020 Report Share Posted September 14, 2020 I would suggest you get hold of a 1/4" chuck of an old drill. Put a bolt in the end that screws onto the drill, cut the head of it and put it in your drill press or other drill. I have used one for years for the smaller bits. Check out ebay. That is where I got mine. Many used ones available for under $50 and some new ones under $100. I also have a Dremel with the chuck that Rolf linked that works very well. I have a pin vise somewhere, but I never liked it and haven't used it in years. The store did not have two, it did not even have a slot for the item. I talked with a member of management that I know outside of HD and he started complaining to me about how bad the website/store products interface is. I needed to use those very very small bits, and this chuck is pretty painless. I've been using since Nov 2018 without any issues. I'm thinking Dremel should toss one of these in with the higher end dremels they sell, though they are pretty cheap.
