BluesMatt Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 Hello everyone. Matt here, a newbie scroller. I'm wondering if you stand, use a chair, or use a stool when you scroll for long periods of time. If you use a chair or stool, which one do you use and is it comfortable for long scrolling sessions? thanks OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Clayton717 Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 I sit while scrolling. It is a stool that I built with drawers in in for extra storage(I have a small shop). It is fairly comfortable, I can scroll for a couple hours then get up and take break. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
John B Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 I stand, as I believe there will be time when I will have to sit so I'll stand as long as I can. I have thick rubber mats near all my benches and machines.and always (Well nearly always) wear boots with a good sole. My daughter did buy me a real beaut swivel stool specially for the shed, but I just can't get used to sitting at a bench/saw. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BluesMatt Posted October 2, 2020 Author Report Posted October 2, 2020 Does anyone use a swiveling bar stool? I'm thinking that maybe a tall stool could allow me to sit sometimes and stand others. OCtoolguy and cashew 2 Quote
Foxfold Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 I made a compromise, this way I can be more upright but still rest my butt on something OCtoolguy and John B 2 Quote
dvdneal Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 I've got the cheap 3 legged stool I built from scrap 2x6 and plywood and just throw a pillow on top even though my butt has enough padding. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Jim McDonald Posted October 2, 2020 Report Posted October 2, 2020 I am using a counter stool like you might see at a parts store. I used to stand, but it got hard my back and legs. Not the best picture, but you get the idea. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BluesMatt Posted October 2, 2020 Author Report Posted October 2, 2020 I'm tempted to try the swivel, height adjustable shop stool sold at Harbor Freight and at Lowes (about $70). Anyone try either of these? OCtoolguy and cashew 2 Quote

I use a swivel stool: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004I3ZRQM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I liked it so much, I bought another for when I do finish work - very comfortable OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Clayton717 Posted October 3, 2020 Report Posted October 3, 2020 The stool/chair i made swivels. And its on wheels so I can move it around my small shop OCtoolguy 1 Quote
cashew Posted October 3, 2020 Report Posted October 3, 2020 I've done all 3 ways and find I like sitting in a chair the most -- it's an office chair and my stand (for the machine) is as low as it can go -- I started out standing (with my saw mounted on an office desk) then went to a stool until I got the stand -- I feel much better after a full day now over then -- if you stand - consider a rubber mat on the floor -- My stool I got at harbor freight - it was just a bit too tall Quote

Does it? new2woodwrk 1 Quote

Norm Fengstad Posted October 5, 2020 Report Posted October 5, 2020 I sit on a swivel high bench chair as I like to use the foot switch to saw. I am considering an adjustable type stool with rollers. I can saw for a couple hours then need short break Quote
