I'm excited about this and want to get a start on a stand.

Can some one give me the DeWalt 788 scroll saw mounting hole pattern?

Or how long and wide it is. I can drill holes later.

I can't find this anywhere. I checked the manual I downloaded and the web.

I'm excited to use this saw. It has to be better than the Wen or the 1940 Craftsman I'm using.

Thanks LaMar

Near as s I can figure, the front bolts are 9 inches apart and the rear is centered 23 inches to the rear of that.

The Dewalt stand is right at 32.5 inches floor to mount.

Funny this came up. I just was in the process of tearing mine done to haul to a family friend before I put the Pegas to work.

Congrats on your new toy. Before you make your stand, give some thought as to whether you want to sit or stand. I had a Dewalt and made my own stand too but I wanted to sit in an office chair rather than a tall stool.

That's the way I went - had an extra office chair and for me it works well.

That's the primary reason I sold the Hawk. It was just too tall and even when I sat on my shop stool/chair it was never comfortable. A 26 in Hawk is too big for my shop anyway. Maybe a 20 inch would be ok and I'd cut the legs down.

I have built a number of stands/cabinets for folks for the DW788. My advice is to wait until you get it, use the saw itself for the bolt pattern, and also determine the height based on your stool or how you feel comfortable using it. You might also consider whether or not you want the saw tilted slightly toward the front, an idea many scrollers find helpful. Each one I have made for folks was slightly different based on what each individual wanted. I know you wish to get a head start, but better to be safe than have to do a retro fit later.

Thanks Jim I had the same thought. Now just wait.

Well I got the DW788 and a stand from HF. Beefed up the stand real well, it's solid now.

I've had a chance to make a few projects. Man does this thing cut and it's quiet.

Being quiet and almost no vibrations makes you think it's not running as fast as it is.

Hang on to to that hat. I really like it after I figured to slow it down.

I read some where it wouldn't do delicate work.

I'm thinking that's not right.

I think after I learn this saw I'll be good to go. I'm liking it.

The 788 will do work as delicate as your skills allow.

It more who is driving the saw as opposed to the machine--to an extent. A newbie on a Hegner, Excalibur, etc., is not going to do the intricate work just because the have a "big name" saw.

I had a DeWalt for years before knew I wasn't supposed to be able to do intricate fretwork on it.  😁

It is a more aggressive cutting saw than some others out there.  It can't be tuned to minimize the blade travel like an Excalibur saw can.  However, if you haven't already grown accustomed to sawing with a less aggressive saw, then you will simply learn how to deal with it, with practice.  I dare say you could do so without even knowing it, because you don't have anything else to compare it to.

You know the rule. No pictures, then it didn't happen!
