trackman Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 Wife wants me to redo the kitchen table. Sand out scratches and stuff. So what would be a good finish to use? Thanks Quote
jollyred Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 Kitchen tables get lots of use and abuse, so I would use polyurethane. This is also a good finish for floors, so you know it is tough. It also comes in satin and gloss finishes, so you get to choose the sheen. Tom Quote
dgman Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 Be careful when sanding the top. It could be a Veneer. You could sand right through it. Quote

scrollerpete Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 I used this on my kitchen table made of maple and walnut. https://woodchuckers.com/collections/food-safe/products/os-topoil Quote
Dan Posted March 31, 2022 Report Posted March 31, 2022 I refinished our dining table back in the previous century (I believe it was 1998). Used polyurethane and it still looks good. Quote
trackman Posted April 1, 2022 Author Report Posted April 1, 2022 I was thinking about poly. An I have used Arm-R-Seal on projects an like it very much. Wasn’t sure if it would be “hard enough “ for a table top. Never heard of Osmo. I watched the videos an it looks interesting. Thanks guys. Quote
Sycamore67 Posted April 1, 2022 Report Posted April 1, 2022 I have used poly that is meant for floors and works very well. Quote
barb.j.enders Posted April 1, 2022 Report Posted April 1, 2022 I used a couple of coats of Tung Oil on my kitchen table. Still holding up well. Quote
