rljohn56 Posted May 17, 2022 Report Posted May 17, 2022 Here’s my question: i have a compound pattern for roses( the bottom black and white pic, but is the any the would more resemble the color pic of a folded rose? I’m not smart enough to figure out how to make a pattern, if even possible, that would look more like a more closed rose. Thanks in advance more any replies. Ray Quote
rash_powder Posted September 5, 2022 Report Posted September 5, 2022 I once saw instructions how to take shavings from a bench plane, trim them to shape, and hot glue them to form a rose. It’s a bit fiddly, but doable. Getting the plane sharp and setup was a lot of learning too. Quote
Wichman Posted September 5, 2022 Report Posted September 5, 2022 I would think that a starting point would be to take a block of wood, say a 2" cube, and draw the center of the rose on the top. Cut the center of the rose out, leave the bottom of the piece at 90 degrees. one at a time draw the top profile of a petal on another 2" thick piece of wood, cut the new petal out and then sand a 2 to 5 degree angle on the bottom of the petal, so that it leans out from the center. continue until the rose is as full as you want it, adjust the angle of the petals to have the rose more or less open as you desire.
