Problem DeWalt 788

Having problem raising top arm at times. Does anyone have a clue what maybe causing it to do that?

Is it stiff or just doesn't stay up? Mine doesn't stay up by itself so I attached a bungee cord up high on the wall to hold it when I release it.

When you release the blade and go to raise the arm up it has catch and won't go up. Mine has never gone up by its self, have always raised it and use a block of wood to hold it up.

Mine does that. I have mine on a foot pedal, and just tap it so that the arm lifts up all the way.

Mine too... although rarely... and I just do as Wolfmoon says. Just give the pedal a quick tap.

Thanks for all of the advice, so a pretty common thing with the 788. Thought it might be trying to tear up on me only 2 weeks old.

Have you taken the side cover off the ar and checked to see if it is anything to do with the blade tension wedge or rod?

I have an easy lift and no problem, when I change the blade I give it a little push upward, works fine. edward

I have a long bunje cord from the arm up to a basement rafter that I adjust the tension of so the arm will just stay up,this works great for me .

They do make a arm lift for the 788 but i just use a bungie cord and it works great like the others said.

My dewalt 788 has been acting strange.I hold down on the top arm and fasten the blade and when i tighten the tention some times it only goes to 2.4 and other times 5 & 6 on the tenstion knob.i'm sure the blade is straight and all the slack in drawn up before i tighten the blade.Any clues.???

Mine lifts up and goes down smooth always. It has never had a catch of any kind. I wonder what could be getting in the way.
