Photos do stand out. Wish we all can get photos like that in our shops. I am sure you will make it. Keep us up to date on how it goes. Pros love to use that graduated paper as backdrop. It is all about the lighting. The chess set is very cool. Is that your own pattern? Lots of time in that. Would it be OK to ask what you are selling for?? Everything is very beautiful and well done. Good luck.

The board is my design and the chess pieces I purchased the pattern off of Etsy.

The show has a division called emerging artist. They judge applicants who have never done a juried show and they live locally. They only choose about 12. Last year I was lucky enough to be chosen. It has an attendance of over 300,000 people and probably about 1/3 of them go to spend money. It was an incredible experience.  Applying this year is a totally different ballgame.  I will be competing with people from all over the US.  Chances for me to get in is super slim.

If I happen to get accepted I will be be pricing the box at $250, chess board and pieces $1400, Sugar Skull $800 and books on my mind $1500.   At a smaller show there is now way those things would sell at that price.

This is a picture of my booth last year.

Your work is class and worth every penny. How did you do last year? That is a huge show. Never been to a show with that kind of attendence. Alot of competition for $$$. Your work stands out so I am sure you have little competition in comparable items which helps in the $$$ competition. Now the question is are there the big buyers that are willing to go that high for projects. Sounds like an artsy show so probably so. I wish I had something like that here. Sure would be worth it and also just to go and enjoy the talent. That is always what drove me to shows. Nothing like it seeing artisan's projects and seeing the talent. Being into what we do we can appreciate these things more. Good luck and as I said keep us up dated. Interested to follow this.

My weekend was phenomenal.  I sold out almost all of my good stuff.  My pricing was on the low end compared to others. There were yard sculptures there for $30,000. If I get in this year my expenses will be close to $2000 which isn't bad as long as the weather cooperates. High risk an reward.

Thanks Dave I see the chess board better in the one you have hanging on a wall. I see what I wanted to see. I may have to borrow that idea. When I first started doing shows one of the best shows I did had a fella that did Intarsia work similar to what you do in the great detail stuff. he was in the same room as me and in fact was right next to my display so we talked alot. His work like yours was spectacular. I told him as well as alot of other crafters mentioned to him he was in the wrong venue and should be doing art shows. There was one a couple towns over from where I lived and man the prices they charged for items struck me hard. There was such a waiting list to get in that show I never could crack the list. But loved walking through there. beautiful work. You should do very well whatever venue you sell at. good luck.

These are awesome. I have seen them before somewhere.

I have a trusted friend who has sold at shows for years, and he would not go to a show that was not juried.

Ehh. I have been to juried shows and they allowed junk in as well. Art shows are more strict as far as being juried.

Dave, you are in a different class, your work is beautiful and you are a real artist, you will make the show, how many pieces will you take to the show, keep us posted, RJ

I sure wish you were one of the judges.  There will be many apply that make me look like and armature. I have no idea how many pieces I would take.........it all depends how much I can make.
