Popular Post Dak0ta52 Posted July 3, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted July 3, 2025 After seeing the bird house pieces Denny and some of the others have done, I just had to try them. The Ornament house patterns I found online, and the standing house patterns were purchased from Wooden Teddy Bear. As you can see they are a mixture of colors. I experimented with various blades but decided I liked cutting with the Pegas #5 MGT the best. I tried the Pegas #5 Double Skip but found I liked the MGT cutting better. The horse is from a pattern purchased from Wooden Teddy Bear. I use Pegas #0/2 and #1 spiral blades. They are stained with Ipswich and Natural with the backers stained Black and Pine. There were a few tricky spots. I found that when I make my pattern from the purchased patterns, I would have to reduce the stroke down to .004 in order to distinguish the cutting area between some of the lines. Hope you enjoy. Scrappile Posted July 7, 2025 Report Posted July 7, 2025 Those horse pictures are beautiful! I'm not addicted to the mini bird houses, they are fun to cut like any 3D cutting is in my book. Dak0ta52 1 Quote

Jim McDonald Posted July 11, 2025 Report Posted July 11, 2025 I paint my birds since i just cut them from square poplar dowel stock. I put some detail in mine, just to challenge myself. Fab4, JackJones and Matt B 3 Quote

You have mentioned the Winfield Collection in previous comments in Scroll Saw Village. I saw that these are not provided in pdf format, so if you don’t mind me asking, when you got the patterns, were they sent as individual patterns that could easily be copied for multiple uses or were they in a book? As I recall, they were on 8 1/2" x 11" paper. I put them into the computer as PDFs. btseed357 1 Quote

The birdhouses were published as an article in one of the magazines a few years ago. Multiple shapes of the houses. Through the years, I have lost which magazine/edition due to many copies and I cut off the information. The artist was the late Diana Thompson. Roberta Moreton 1 Quote

The issue is CWWC May 2011, but the ones I showed were from the Winfield collection also done by the late Diana Thompson. Jim McDonald 1 Quote

I’ve been searching for them and the only free pattern for a miniature birdhouse is one that I’ve found is on Steve Goods website which is pretty good. After making a couple of them I’m getting the fever and want a little more variety so I ordered the Winfield collection from online. Quote
