kmmcrafts Posted Tuesday at 10:13 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:13 PM Okay I’m working on making another wedding rings thing for my friend. My wife says the way I put my the name on the one side ( Liz ) is backwards. I’ve always been a little backwards and cross eyed so who knows. I do know that your wife is always right too so I shouldn’t even question and ask for your opinions. If you don’t want to answer I understand but you should be safe since she doesn’t know anyone here. . Maybe I’ll ask ChatGPT too. Which way does Liz supposed to go? L at the bottom going up or Top doing down the heart shape? She seen me working on the computer doing the layout and said I was doing it backwards so I did it both ways on some scrap to see what way looked right. Quote
Fab4 Posted Wednesday at 01:16 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:16 AM Hi Kevin: Don't argue with the wife, 99.9% of the time it's winless For what it's worth, I would have done it like your first one Fab4 kmmcrafts 1 Quote
Fab4 Posted Wednesday at 01:39 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:39 AM hey Kev: I think you (we) can win this one, Fab4 Quote
meflick Posted Wednesday at 02:23 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:23 AM You didn’t say which way your wife said. Clearly, she’s right. I would say it’s the top one with Liz starting with L from the bottom. I view it the same as “reading” across the page, left to right. So to “read” it correctly, you would have Liz where it is reading it. The second one makes it look “backwards” in my opinion. I thought Mary was going the wrong way on the last one you posted. Quote
Sycamore67 Posted Wednesday at 11:14 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:14 AM Definitely the top one. The bottom one is just wrong. Quote
barb.j.enders Posted Wednesday at 11:37 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:37 AM Two votes, in this house, for the top one. Meflick has the logic behind it right. Quote
don in brooklin on Posted Wednesday at 12:17 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:17 PM I vote for the top one too. Quote
yamatetsu Posted Wednesday at 12:56 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:56 PM (edited) The top one is correct. Also: Problem solved. Edited Wednesday at 12:57 PM by yamatetsu tomsteve and preprius 2 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted Wednesday at 01:24 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:24 PM Thanks everyone, Like I said I've always been backwards.. never said I was smart . I was not good at any subjects in school other than auto shop, wood shop, machine shop, welding, fiberglass & plastics, and drafting go figure why I would get this wrong.. I thought it looked right with the second one.. but, now that Melanie mentioned how you read ( something I don't do unless there is pictures ) it goes with the flow of the bottom one. And once again my wife was right and I knew it but, wanted confirmation from others too which is why I never mentioned what way I thought would be right.. Fab4, barb.j.enders and meflick 3 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted Wednesday at 02:27 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 02:27 PM Just did a sample of it this way too. Your thoughts on it like this? I think I like it this way better. Not sure why I didn’t try it this way to begin with. preprius, meflick, GPscroller and 6 others 9 Quote

JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted Wednesday at 04:41 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:41 PM (edited) I too like the altered version best. But if you go with your way then the top one works best. But one thing in any of your photos the names do not look centered the same. It is each 3 letters and they should equal out. To my eye something does not look right. Even the curving of the letters. I say take a look at that before you commit to finished product. But I have old eyes. I know I am nit picking but it is my OCD I guess. Even the numbers are off slightly. The point of the heart should be dead center of the 2 "0,s " Edited Wednesday at 04:43 PM by JTTHECLOCKMAN kmmcrafts and barb.j.enders 1 1 Quote

The point of the heart should be dead center of the 2 "0,s " Yeah I know, I've been struggling with this myself and I believe it's something with the hearts being off rather than the text. If I center the 0's with the inner heart's point then it's off and the 2 ends up touching the outer heart layer so I'm still playing with this alignment issues. I may end up having to place the letters in one by one because if I follow the text to path for the names it also looks worse.. But yes I agree they're all off in some way. The first one I did was just playing around so I did a quick job of it without putting much thought into it. Now I'm making one for a friend and his wife and the outcome matters much more.
