Had the time of my life in hospital(girls)
crupiea and 2 others reacted to amazingkevin for a topic
Well all is well but lots of meds to take now.i had no idea what was wrong but the pain was excruciating to say the least. Do I drove to the hospital knowing something big was going on,never thought it was a stroke.i had to rotate my shoulders as much as I could just to endure the pain while driving to the hospital. They put a stent in my heart via a vein in my thigh in minutes once the x-ray or ultra sound came back.BUT the good thing is I was surrounded with females all the time I was in the hospital. I didn't,take names as I,m behind already making names. About a week before this happened I slowed down to just about a stop scrolling. Yep the heart attack was building up.no damage that they know of! Glad to be back!!! Thanks for all the well wishing friends .God never left me!!!! The pharmacist got his name when I fill my meds. Can,t keep a scroller down long!!! He,s vietnames. The font is rage.3 points -

Women aren't always forgiving when you find another purpose for some of their things. I once used my wife's favorite bread knife to cut sod around the contour of our walkway. Walkway looked great and so did the "new" bread knife I was so happy to purchase.3 points -

What is yours is hers--BUT What is hers is HERS! Marriage lesson #12 points -
I don't want to beat an old horse to death but here goes. I purchased a 5X mag light for my saw. Too strong. Put in on my metal lathe bench. Bought a 1.5X mag lamp on ebay foe $25, a very nice lamp for the price. Worked quite well but it kept my nose to close to the table. I bought this 3X lamp on Amazon for $50. Wow, perfect viewing distance for me. What is unique is the lens. The lens is plastic but the quality of the viewing is great! It is unusual due to it's shape. It is like not looking through a lamp because there is no distracting outside frame. The led's are mounted underneath and just ahead of the lens. The led's are 24 volt . It is a unique looking lamp but works beautifully just wearing my reading glasses.1 point

I figure if you plumbed a water heater through a pump, and had circulating how water in the lines and some car radiators, you don't need the fans. You could turn the pump on and off with a simple on the wall thermostat like in the house. With water circulating it is being cooled, when not circulating the hot water heater thermostat would stop heating the water and hold it ready just like it does now.1 point
-
Yeppers, I messed that one up. The thermostat is a value, and the measurement of water temp I was referring to, typically opens around 180*F, allows the cooler radiator water to mix with the engine water. The temp gauge is usually about midway on the block (front to back) and runs the gauge on the dash. Mea culpa, one day I will get the brain and the fingers to work together well.1 point

I bought a lamp and magnifier from Michael's. I couldn't get used to it. So I just wear cheaters. But I do like the look of that one. I might give it a try. Thanks for posting Les1 point

That is beautiful!! I have the pattern to do, hope I can do as well as you did.1 point -
when the car gets hot.. they kick on to cool the car engine. Technically, since I just got back from PT and am feeling onery, the water gets hot, and the fan cools the water in the radiator, the thermostat measures the water temperature.1 point

Small Shop Heating
OzarkSawdust reacted to Wilson142 for a topic
Having lived in Minnesota for nearly 50 yrs of my life, I lived in many places heated with boilers and hot water radiators. I don't remember freezing to death and got a chuckle about needing to top off my antifreeze, even though 20-30 below temps were common. I went to several schools that were radiator heated. Once again, never froze if I wasn't seated next to the rad. Not a fan of hot water heat mostly due to the lack of vents, so adding air conditioning was a problem, but a properly maintained hot water system is different then what some have said here. Many people painted the radiators which reduced the efficiency and they can be insightly. I don't know if a hot water heater would work anywhere as well as an actual boiler.1 point -
Don't go this way if you live where temperatures can fall below freezing or your water in the system will need anti freeze added to it in case it's off when the temperatures do fall this low. The idea of heating directly or indirectly from electric power is an expensive way to heat too, unless a heat pump (reversible air conditioner) can be used. My shop has a 24K BTU window style heat pump mounted high and through the North wall of my shop. It keeps my shop above freezing and around 70 degrees whenever I'm working in there, but I live in North Carolina where heat pumps work quite efficiently, and not in the Great White North. No part of a heat pump system ever gets hot enough to ignite paper or wood, so it's very safe. With a good pleated air filter, it makes a good shop air cleaner too. When I lived in NY State, my shop was heated by an oil fired hot air furnace in a separate room from the shop, and I filtered the air going through it with good pleated filters. Charley1 point

Small Shop Heating

I bought an old house in NE years ago. It had hot water heat...in the winter the only way to really get warmed up was to sit on a radiator! A year or two later it was ripped put and replaced with a new gas forced air heater...much better!1 point -

it is my Second cross puzzle. The first cross was animal puzzle with the letter "JESUS" I would like to have a 12-piece cross that represents 12 apostles. After hearing some advice from my friends, I made 12 pieces and the completed puzzle made a cross in the form of Jesus. I have a choice of animals that enter the puzzle Not always, but I didn't want to put any animals on the cross. I think everybody has feelings about animals it is mine below Whales: Tolerance Turtle: Relaxation, Patience, Peace Elephants: mother's instinctive love ,great love for the family Tiger: Toughness Horse: Freedom Hippo: patience and toughness Puppy: loyalty and lovelyness(always enters all the puzzle) Dove: Peace Squirrel: Wisdom Bat: darkness I hope to put some massages into puzzle it might be batter than preety puzzles how to make youtube : https://youtu.be/1e6hzVhDdjI1 point

I lived with radiators a lot of years, learned to hate them, seems no matter how hot the water is it just does not do much more than heat the immediate, and I mean immediate area. Even with tin foil on the wall behind it that was little help. But, a friend did that with several radiators (the old copper kind) daisy chained around his garage, that worked fairly well. Your mentioning radiator reminded me of his his set up.1 point

Pegas Blade clamps
scrollingforsanity reacted to OCtoolguy for a topic
Bill, if you have anybody near you that has the clamps, maybe they'd go along with letting your either borrow them for a trial or let you use their saw. There was no reason for me to replace my "perfectly good clamps" either but if everybody felt that way, we might all still be driving model T Fords. They did the job well too but there was always a better car coming along. The size difference alone is worth the change over. Much lighter too.1 point -
Les, it's never "beating a dead horse" when you post about a new product. If nobody ever let the word get out, we'd all still be using handheld fret saws. Just sayin.....1 point

Santa's Truck
Dave Monk reacted to OzarkSawdust for a topic
I finished up Santa's Truck by Steve Good this morning. Had to laugh when I saw Dan put the same thing up yesterday...mine was in the shop letting the backer paint dry before I glued it up! I used 1/4" Maple and 1/4" Birch ply painted red but put it on an Oak base. I veined it with a Pegas #5 and followed with a 2/0 spiral. Following the #5 it was better behaved...but still tried to get wild a couple of times...lol. This method may be my only use for spirals, for now. I took it up to Red Barn to put in my booth and the owner really liked it. When I signed the bottom of the base I dated it and wrote "#1 of 10"...lol. Maybe people will think it's a limited edition...limited by how many I want to make...lol And she wants me to design a tissue box for the store! Cool!1 point -

Pegas Blade clamps
scrollingforsanity reacted to Bill WIlson for a topic
I appreciate the feedback and perspective, Ray. I know I'm swimming upstream on this one, given the nearly universally positive reviews these clamps have gotten. Like I said, I have little reason to replace perfectly good clamps, at the moment. But if/when I need to, I'll certainly give the Pegas replacements serious consideration.1 point -
You should post a link to this device. I know I have some issues and I'd wager there are others who are unhappy with their current light/magnifier. Maybe one of my kids will get me one for Christmas? Thanks for your review.1 point
-
OK I'll confuse the issue even more, I would use pegas Modified geometry #3 1/8 or 1/4 makes no difference in cutting IMO, stack cut two or three, they are all usable in my experience1 point

Blade size? What to use.
Be_O_Be reacted to TripleJScroller for a topic
I'd probably use 1/4" ply myself and stack 2, just because I think the 1/4 would make it pop a bit more than 1/8th. That's just personal preference though and it will look great either way. As far as blades go I'd probably use a FDUR #5 whether cutting 1/4 or 1/8th inch stacked.1 point -
I would stack 3 pcs of ply and use a #5 Olson match blades I never cut just one piece of ply you cut 3 pcs so you will have 2 good ones if you get 3 its a good thing but if you adre cutting only one piece I would use a #3 I verlly seldom use 1/8 ply unless i am cutting orniments then I stack4 to 6 pieces.
