  1. I don't think it's that cut and dry. Let me see if I can figure that out. There's gotta be a solution.
  2. I got a couple questions regarding upgrading. You DON'T have to wait for your current subscription to expire before switching. You can change at any time. Your account will be credited and you'll only be charged difference between the plans. To upgrade to a different plan, go to your Manage Purchases. Find your active supporter badge and click the Manage button. Right below the product information is the Upgrade/Downgrade link. That will allow you to upgrade/downgrade your plan to another one. It's important that you upgrade your plan this way. Adding a plan to your cart and checking out will add the plan IN ADDITION to your previous plan. If anybody runs into any trouble, please let me know. I'm happy to get things sorted out.
  3. You can renew your Patron account here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/clients/ It's also located under the Support SSV tab at the top of the screen in case you need to find it again. 4. This is great, Kevin! I hope you don't mind, but I posted this in our Articles in the Business Side section. You can find that here:
  5. Howdy all. We've been on our new server for 3 months now. Everything seems to be working well. I've been monitoring our server usage, and we're in the green! So that's great news. Thanks everybody for your patience as I went through these severe growing pains. Naturally, when a little site like SSV begins to grow, things get more complicated and considerably more expensive. @Scrappile suggested a good idea in offering different levels of support for SSV patrons. So I thought I'd give it a try and see how it goes. I have created 3 levels of support for SSV Patrons; Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The 3 levels offer the exact same benefits. The only difference is the supporter title and the color of the supporter badge below your avatar. Bronze is $10/year and is the same one we've always had (still says SSV Patron). Silver is $3/month (cost of a cup of good coffee). Gold is $5/month (cost of a cup of fancy Starbucks coffee). I'm using a new payment processor that can handle recurring payments. So these new subscriptions will auto-pay until you cancel it. So you don't have to worry about trying to remember to resubscribe. None of the credit card information is stored on my server and I don't have visibility into your information. Payments are processed by Stripe which is embedded into SSV. You can upgrade and downgrade your plans at any time. Upgrades will charge the prorated difference between the two plans. Downgrades are also prorated with the difference given as account credit. I'm going to give this a try for awhile. If it becomes more trouble than it's worth, I'll revert back to the old way. But if it does work, it is a nice way to pitch in a few extra bucks to cover the cost of running SSV. If you're interested in becoming an SSV Patron, or you want to upgrade, you can find the new badges here. Thank you everybody for your continued support! I really appreciate it.
  6. Yah, the permissions were all goofed up. I fixed them now. Thanks for the heads up. You should be able to reply to topics, but not post new topics.
  7. Click More, then there's extra links in the gray bar below the blue bar. Ornaments For Charity should be on the far left.
  8. Howdy All. I got the Ornaments For Charity page rebuilt. It is now located under the More tab. Or you can just click here to go directly there. Enjoy!
  9. I've had good luck with 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. The trick is to spray the back of your paper, then spray the wood you want to attach it to, wait unitl both become tacky like a Post It Note, then apply. Use a credit card to work out the bubbles. I spray it with clear acrylic spray for some added protection. I've used this technique on tray puzzles for kids and it held up pretty well over the years of use and abuse.
  10. Thanks all. It was a fun project. It's about 10" square.
  11. Happy Independence Day to my American friends. Here's a segmented heart I made from cedar fence board. I like the rough sawn look and lends itself well to aging/distressing. Painted with craft paint. Aged by sanding then staining with minwax stain. Then I added a couple coats of acrylic clear coat.
  12. Translate: Thanks for the advice! I will learn from your advice!
  13. For those who have the Jet, I think I read that you lose about 1/4" of the depth of cut/stroke because of the way it was designed. Have you noticed if it impacted you at all? I'd imagine it'd affect those who like doing compound cutting.
  14. Howdy All. I brought back the Member Map. It's fun to see where everybody is. Who knows, there might be a scroller near you! Check it out. It takes data from your profile (the Location section) and puts it on the map. You can also update your location from the Member Map section. There's a button that says"My Location" where you can type in your city or zipcode (I wouldn't put your home address, though). Anyway, it's a fun section to look at. I'm bringing back features bit by bit and checking the impact on our server. I'll roll out other features soon enough too.
  15. If you're on your phone, the signatures are hidden. Signatures or only visible on the desktop version of SSV.
  16. I checked your account and everything looks right. You should be able to see signatures. I can also see yours. My signature is below this post.
  17. Keep talking to them. If they won't listen, find another doctor. Stay persistent. It sounds a little dramatic, but it really is a case of life and death. There's a all kinds of things a doctor can do. The trick is finding the right combination. Doing that may take a little trial and error. And if don't get your feedback, they're going to assume that it's working. This is a partnership. And as a partnership, each of you have a role to play.
  18. Hi Kevin. I'm really sorry to hear what's happening. I understand that you are venting to your friends on SSV, but the real person who needs to hear these things is your doctor. You really need to talk to your doctor. They are there for you and will take care of you. Not all medications work the same way on people. So if it's not working, or causing other side effect, the doctor has a whole slew of other options. And if your doctor can't figure it out, they have a team that will help. If you're not comfortable with your current doctor, get another one. You're not going to hurt their feelings and they'll be happy to give you a referral. If you are at any moment not completely focused and alert, please don't use power tools. Especially bandsaws and tablesaws. They'll ruin your day for sure. And please don't drive! That puts other people and families in danger too. You have much too big of a heart to hurt anyone, so please don't do it. There are groups that will pick you up for doctor appointments and other services for those who cannot drive. Get yourself taken care of. We all care for you and want you to get back into the shop. But the first step is to get your health on the right track.
  19. What browser are you using?
  20. Thanks everybody for the Birthday wishes. I had a great day. I took the day off work and spent it in the workshop. My wife indulged my ridiculous notion of "needing" a bigscreen TV in the workshop so I can make sawdust AND watch Star Wars. I truly am blessed with a VERY understanding wife. Thanks everybody! You're the best.
  21. I'm not seeing anything unusual either. What browser are you using? Maybe something got hung up. Have you tried rebooting your computer?
  22. If you notice your display name is wrong, or it is showing your full name instead, let me know and I can change that for you. I know the recent software upgrade switched a few names. I can easily fix that back to the way it was. Also, if you can't get into your account for any reason, shoot me an email and I'll help you out. But please don't create a new account. It just gets confusing and all of your old posts won't be associated with your new account. You can get a hold of me by using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.
  23. Happy Birthday, Grampa!

  24. Yah, they changed things a bit on how GIMP works. You can check out this post. It is basically the same thing @heppnerguy explained. You do it in the Tool options now.
  25. It might be legit, but just be careful of scams. I get regular emails from people wanting to buy scroll saws from me. Usually a dozen at a time. They always seem to have money burning a hole burning in their pocket.
